Tedd Ginn, Jr.?
Did I miss the thread on this one? I'm sure it's been talked about how the Dolphins blew this one.
I almost spilled my beer when I heard the pick though. |
Re: Tedd Ginn, Jr.?
There's news today that he might not even be ready for the start of training camp. He's walking around in a boot right now.
Horrible reach by the Dolphins, I really don't get it. My buddy who is a big Dolphins fan was majorly bummed when they passed up Quinn. |
Re: Tedd Ginn, Jr.?
All the better for us on opening day!
|
Re: Tedd Ginn, Jr.?
...unless he turns out to be Devon Hester, the pick makes no sense.
|
Re: Tedd Ginn, Jr.?
Here are the pre- and post-Dolphin's selection text messages that my co-worker, a 'Fins fan, sent me on Saturday:
Pre-pick: Quinn might fall to Miami!!! Post-pick: Ted Ginn?!?! No football for me this year Today he said he wasn't all that pissed about not getting Quinn because he likes Beck but he's SO bitter that they didn't get some help for their aging defense. |
Re: Tedd Ginn, Jr.?
The local stations are BLASTING the pick. It's actually quite entertaining when the assualt is NOT directed to the Skins.
Ahhh........the sweet smell of good first round pick! |
Re: Tedd Ginn, Jr.?
yeah seriously that was the "WTF" pick of the draft.
|
Re: Tedd Ginn, Jr.?
Dolphins needed another Wes Welker and Ginn matches that position.. But a completely wasted 1st rd pick tho..
|
Re: Tedd Ginn, Jr.?
I made fun of my friend who is a huge Fins fan when they picked Ginn.. he was so happy when he saw Quinn dropped to them. Who selects a punt returner in the first round.
|
Re: Tedd Ginn, Jr.?
I can understand why they did it...because they had John Beck so highly rated.
I just, like everyone else on this board and elsewhere, think they are stupid for doing it. If they had taken a stud at another position like Okoye, and then Beck in the second, I would give them a pass. But this might very well end up being a wasted draft pick. Essentially, Ginn's potential is that he replaces Wes Welker seamlessly. A man who they got a second round pick for...yeah. |
Re: Tedd Ginn, Jr.?
Still, there at least 6 players they could have taken before Ginn.
That being said, what a slap in the face for Quinn. |
Re: Tedd Ginn, Jr.?
They will regret this pick no matter what.
Let's say he is like Hester. Even then, why not take a chance for a QB that will lead your team to SBs? A returner alone cannot do that. I mean he could be a decent receiver too, but 9th pick? There were a million other good defensive players out there they should have gotten. |

Re: Tedd Ginn, Jr.?
People can bash this all they want but I liked this pick. All Ginn did was SCORE TOUCHDOWNS. Remember, he got hurt AFTER HE SCORED A TD. His production ON THE FIELD is what matters. Not that he couldn't go to the silly ass combine and run wind sprints in shorts. Nobody caught this guy when he was in pads. He is a double threat on teams and at WR. People forget that special teams can WIN GAMES. This guy is simply a game breaker. Who gives a damn if he is in a boot??? It's not like he's going to be walking around in it forever. He'll be ready be training camp.
And why is everyone ready to just give up on Culpepper? It makes no sense to me. This guy had one of the best seasons in the history of the NFL a few years ago. I wouldn't be so sure to close the book on this guy quite yet. He needs to keep healing and get some weapons around him and he'll be fine. Plus they could bring in Trent Green. Miami thinks they have a chance to win now. If they draft Quinn they would be wasting a year or two. By that time the defense will have to be rebuilt. People can say all they want but why did Quinn drop? Because in the big games he played like shit. Against LSU he looked terrible. NFL teams got scared by that. It's not fair cause Brady Quinn was a great college QB. But so was Troy Smith and looked what happened to him? The guy from Boise State didn't even get drafted and he was a STUD. |

I'm not saying he won't, or couldn't but they already have a guy who has proven himself. Plus if they get Green then they will have a guy with proven NFL experience. The pick made sense for Cleveland. IMO it didn't for Miami. |
