What to do with Springs??
I think everyone has there own opinion on how we should handle this whether its trading him, have him switch positions, or keep him
|
Re: What to do with springs??
Why trade him? It's not like Carlos Rogers has proved himself... Springs and Smoot will be the starters at the beginning of the season.
|
Re: What to do with springs??
Also, why move his position now? We seem like we're going to be set at safety and he's still, arguably, our best cornerback when he's healthy.
|
Re: What to do with springs??
If he should switch positions, I hope he considers DT or DE because we could use some help there and he is a leader.
|
Re: What to do with Springs??
If healthy, I hope we keep him. If healthy he is our #1 Corner, leave him at CB.
|
Re: What to do with Springs??
I think in the end we'll keep him unless someone wants him in a trade involving a DE.

Agreed. And if we keep him, he starts at CB. |

and has 12 interceptions and goes to the probowl....or at least is better than Rogers. |
Re: What to do with Springs??
I sure hope we keep him. My concern is that the team has pissed him off to the point that he's going to push a trade, a la champ & coles. He's under contract, even if its a big cap #, that's still in our favor.
I think he's handled it well publicly, but he can't be too happy about the pay cut request. |

zing! keep him at CB. |
Re: What to do with Springs??
Despite the signing of Smoot and Macklin, I'm afraid to think about our CB situation without Springs in the lineup. Remember how out of sorts we were during the season when he was injured? He makes the difference in many things we can do as a defense, I hope he stays here, and stays healthy.

Re: What to do with Springs??
Keep him. He is still the team's best cover corner. Having Springs, Smoot and Rogers gives Williams the flexibility to be more aggressive in his play calling.

Handling Springs is a no brainer. We are now extremely strong at safety so a position switch would be wierd. We play Springs at Corner until he gets hurt and then move in Smoot. |

while I agree w/your persepctive about keeping Springs in the starting lineup at cb, I would hardly say it's a "no-brainer" for the front office. They may have several good reasons why they have shopped him to other teams, or they may have pissed him off beyond repair by asking him to take a pay cut. I hope the relationship isn't a problem if he's to stay. |

I was thinking Springs could fill in at tight end in goal-line situations. We've needed help there for years. |
