That's a scary thought! Anyways, it will be miraculous if they do get him signed in time for the passing camp that begins Monday. I suppose the thing to realize is that Mato, Moorad & Co. have been preparing for contract negotiations between ST & the Skins for a long time (in anticipation, much before ST hired them as agents), and so it isn't as though they've lost valuable time to hammer out a deal before camp starts. |
lol...john clayton...talk about a guy built for an IT department
|
funny thing is that this shouldn't be much of a suprise since most agents and teams don't start discussing contracts until the week before training camp and for the majority of the draft all u have to do is look at what the player drafted in the same spot was paid last year and add on about 10%.
It is comforting to know we won't have a key peice of our team starting from behind because of a hold out. |

As long as Sean Taylor is in camp by July 30th, I'm a happy man.
|
As long as he levels a couple Bronco's on August 9th I'm happy 8)

in other news cooley is signed i heard... little more than 2mill over 4 years, with an escalator the 4th year... 655,000$ signing bonus, which means near league minimum base yearly salary...
|
This is exactly why buiding through the draft is the way to go. We get to have cooley on our team for four years basically playing for free, in terms of the salary cap. The trick is to have a good G.M. and personal department we can find quality players in the third and fourth rounds.
|
Signing a player is not proof of anything. We still have to find out if we have a player. It's his performance over the next couple years that will matter. I sure hope that Cooley makes it, but like all rookies, that remains to be seen.
|
its awesome that he didnt have an agent this whoel time and might be the first top five player to sign still.

GREAT point, Canes.
There's been a LOT of worry about Taylor on this site. If this happens as projected, it will prove there was no reason for it. This whole thing has been a mystery, but just maybe there were good reasons for the mystery. We still don't know why he fired the first guy - but if he had good reason, it shows character that he didn't go public with his gripes like most do. I prefer to think on the positive side about him until I know some facts that prove otherwise. |
