Chipped my freakin tooth!!!
OK, I know I'm an idiot cause I did this to myself when I was being a pain in the butt to my wife. I took her ice cream spoon and went to lick it quickly and hit the bottom of one of my top front teeth. It chipped the bottom of it, and you can only tell it's chipped if you get up VERY close to it. So it's not a very big chip. So my question is will this cause my tooth to decay or anything like that? I've never chipped a tooth before.

Re: Chipped my freakin tooth!!!
My tooth is chipped a tiny bit just like yours. I just noticed it a few months ago, and I think the dentist told me it wasnt a big deal. But if you go there they can file it down around it, so you cant even notice anything.

Re: Chipped my freakin tooth!!!
I walked into a military cargo bed trailer face first 8 years ago. I chipped my tooth and I guess it recovered by itself, because it isn't chipped anymore.

Re: Chipped my freakin tooth!!!
i bit down on a fork and chipped my tooth. They can either file it down, or they even can attach a fake piece of tooth to it to make it a full one again.

Re: Chipped my freakin tooth!!!
if it isnt too bad, they will file it. a bigger chip and they can bond it to get the right look. the biggest chip and they will need to cap it

Re: Chipped my freakin tooth!!!

As long as you brush your teeth it wont be a problem from a decay standpoint unless it is chipped in such a way that food justs will sit in it. dmek is right on about what can be done. If it is small enough it will wear away in a couple years. |
Re: Chipped my freakin tooth!!!
I chipped the corner of one of my front teeth a long time ago, not a big deal. Like someone already said you can just have your dentist file it and you won't even know it happened. Either that or just find a big ol' piece of sandpaper and go to work on it!

Re: Chipped my freakin tooth!!!
This thread rates pretty highly on the unintentional comedy scale!

I had this happen and had it repaired... then it happened again. They repaired it again but is kept feeling uncomfortable. Turns out there was an infection in the root that led to a root canal. You should at least get it checked out. |

Yeah, that is likely what I will do. |

It's barely noticable. I have a deep seeded hatred for dentists...I seriously have been only 1 time since I was 13 (got braces removed), and that was when I had to get my bottom wisdom teeth removed since they came in sideways. (keep in mind I'm 32) I take VERY good care of my teeth so I do not have to see a dentist. I've actually contemplated taking an emery board to the edge of it to dull it down a little. Stupid eh? |
Re: Chipped my freakin tooth!!!
Wow I thought I was bad but you should seriously see a dentist for a cleaning. They get the crap off your teeth that normal brushing can't do. Seriously dude, see the dentist asap!

You would be SHOCKED at how clean and white my teeth are for not seeing a dentist. In fact, when I had those wisdom teeth removed, the dentist did not believe me that I had not been in like 17 years at that time. He said they were in way too good a shape. No cavities, and very clean. I get very deep into the cleaning, and have two different brushes...both electric. One is small and can get into corners, the other is big and get's all around. I also floss a lot to get between the teeth. I have a fixation with teeth. I wouldn't even date a girl with less than good teeth. So the fact that I chipped my tooth is REALLY pissing me off. |
