Fox Sports QB rankings
FOX Sports on MSN - NFL - Ranking all 32 teams at quarterback
Apparently, the 5 pronged threat of JC, MB, Todd Collins, Casey Bramlet and Carson's younger brother was enough to put us at 28. :pffff: |
Re: Fox Sports QB rankings
No surprise there. JC is totally unproven, MB is over the hill, and the others are roster fillers. At this point the skins QB is a complete unknown.

Re: Fox Sports QB rankings
For those of us who want to skip the link:
28. Redskins (2006 Rank: 13) Jason Campbell fared well in seven late-season starts last year. He didn't make the highlight reel very often, but he avoided sacks (just seven) and fumbles (one) and proved that he was a decent decision maker. Campbell must improve his accuracy and show that he can handle the entire playbook. Backup Mark Brunell is on his last legs. His arm is spent and he bails on too many plays. Todd Collins is a well-traveled third stringer. Rookie Jordan Palmer is Carson Palmer's brother, but most of their similarities are buried in the DNA sequence. ------------------------------------------------ There's really no excuse for anyone to put Campbell above 20. He's done nothing on the field to merit it, but has shown so much promise that here in D.C. that we worry little. Of all the young QB's that we've gone through here, can you remember one with the poise JC has? Whenever the pocket broke down or the play fell apart, JC was making plays. He had his dump offs, he managed the game, but he improved.... a lot. If he threw an interception... BANG he'd come back with a touchdown drive. When his headset went out during a pivotal part of a game, he called the play that worked in practice... touchdown. He just hasn't shown the characteristic young QB panic that usually leads to turnovers. I attribute that all to the FO and Gibbs for drafting him early, and grooming him into what is likely to be a very good QB. |

Ugh I'm tired of these meaningless rankings already, let's get some damn football going!

Its the best we can do to satisfy the fix Matty

Re: Fox Sports QB rankings
The NFL network had us at number 8 for back up QB's which they were talking about Brunell. They did say he was getting old but new the system and has a ton of experence.
|
Re: Fox Sports QB rankings
Brunell is an adequate back up. Campbell is the unknown
|
Re: Fox Sports QB rankings
Wow, people rally hate the Skins. I'm not surprised but, still, wow.
|
Re: Fox Sports QB rankings
I understand Campbell being ranked low based on his lack of experience, but when I see other young guys like Leinart ranked much higher than Campbell, it just makes me wonder.

Re: Fox Sports QB rankings
What do you all think the chances are of making Collins inactive on game days and putting Randel El in at 3rd.
I kinda thought that was part of the idea of bringing him here (I guess i just talked myself into thinking that for some reason). We would free up a extra roster spot on game days, as long as both QB's in front of him are in good health, and both WR in front of Randell El are also in good health. |

Next up...a ranking of the rankings! |
Re: Fox Sports QB rankings
The beef with JC in college was he had those two killer RB's behind him. The qeustion is, is he really that good or was it because everyone was geared for the run with Auburn his senior year? He did fine last year, but statistically wasn't alot much better than Brunell from what I remember. Remember also, Fox has him as a sleeper QB for fantasy football, so they can't think all that poorly of him. I just might pick him up yet.

I mean, it's not like he has two killer RB's behind him now or anything. |

Absolutley! |
Re: Fox Sports QB rankings
I really like Brunell, but I hope either Bramlett or Palmer steps up and gets a little preseason action in order to replace Brunell as the backup for 2008. There is no way that Brunell is not the backup over either of those guys for this year (too much experience), but it would not surprise me that Todd Collins did not make the team. It is time to move on with youth at the QB position.
