WP: Gibbs, Portis Stay Cautious With Running Back's Knee
Coach [URL="http://www.washingtonpost.com/ac2/related/topic/Joe+Gibbs?tid=informline"]Joe Gibbs[/URL] said that a recent MRI exam of tailback [URL="http://www.washingtonpost.com/ac2/related/topic/Clinton+Portis?tid=informline"]Clinton Portis[/URL]'s right knee showed only the previously diagnosed tendinitis, and that he could have played Saturday had the [URL="http://www.washingtonpost.com/ac2/related/topic/Washington+Redskins?tid=informline"]Redskins[/URL] been involved in a regular season game. Portis will continue to focus on strengthening and conditioning his knee this week -- there is no set timetable for his return to full practice -- but Gibbs said he feels good about Portis's progress.
