Should there be standard contracts?
OK, with all the problems in signing first round draft picks BEFORE camp, should there be a standard contract the NFL imposes?
For instance: 1st pick gets (say) 6 mil a year for 5 years 2nd pick gets (say) 5 mil a year for 5 years and so on and so forth? |
Re: Should there be standard contracts?
Well yea I agree.. The contracts in NFL today is completely ridiculous, millions and millions dollars.. Why are they complaining about money?? I mean, I myself would be satisfied with just ONE million dollars per yr or so.. I agree with u, I think NFL should set the standard contract to prevent hold-outs and problems..

Re: Should there be standard contracts?
With you number the 32nd pick would get 187,500 for 5 years.

I used the term "(say)" to be as a rough estimate. I am not coming up with a concrete system of pay, just asking if you think there should be a standard rate of pay. If you want to come up with a system for each pick, that's your choice, but I am not offering that. |
Re: Should there be standard contracts?
I am a big fan of performance base incentives. You play well you get paid well. but that would never work, with seriousness of injuries and all.
