What a tragic fall from grace for this guy.

Re: Remember When Todd Marinovich Was the Next Great QB?
This is what happens when you put too much pressure on your kids. His Dad raised him to be a QB, guess that didn't work out too well.

That's seriously messed up. Were his parents some of those Southern California Treehuggers or something? No wonder he has problems. I'm going to eat a cheeseburger for lunch just because of this news. |

No wonder he has problems. I'm going to eat a cheeseburger for lunch just because of this news.
No, his dad was like a football Nazi and he didn't want him to get fat!
stories emerged that he had been raised to be the "perfect" quarterback by his father Marv Marinovich, a former NFL lineman. These claims became nationally known after an article in Sports Illustrated magazine that appeared during his college recruitment. The article cites his father's desire to have his son be the first high-school athlete to have his picture appear on a box of "Wheaties" cereal. The claims also included strict workout regimens during his early years and complete abstinence from fast food. While Marinovich's mother was pregnant with Todd, her diet was also under close scrutiny, she was to eat only lean meals high in protein and her husband forced her to give up cigarette smoking, although she admits to having "to sneak into the garage for an occasional puff.
Todd Marinovich - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia |

Re: Remember When Todd Marinovich Was the Next Great QB?
A 38 year old man is out skateboarding and hanging out in the neighborhood of 7-11 stores at 1:00AM and police arrest him and find some drug stuff in his posession. My normal image here is that the guy is a total slacker who would never have made anything out of his life because he had no talents in the first place.
But this 38 year old man ... was once a top flight quarterback who people thought would be a long-term star in the NFL. Sic transit gloria mundi |
Re: Remember When Todd Marinovich Was the Next Great QB?
What a shame. He must really be far gone. If cops are chasing you and you've temporarily eluded them, then ditch the drugs dummy!! Then again, if he's a 38 year old ex-quarterback skateboarder smoking meth, then I guess common sense waved bye-bye to him long ago. I hate seeing stuff like this.
