Jansen's dislocated ankle
Is this a season ending injury or can he come back? Any ankle experts?

Gone......Very sad! Can't dwell on it though have to move forward! |
Re: Jansen's discolated ankle
Is that the official word? Out for the season?

Re: Jansen's discolated ankle
I know other players have lost a season to this. However all the ones I can think of were WR or RBs. I can't remember a OL getting it. Linemen usually get knee injuries not ankle. I am wondering if his weight means a longer recovery or the fact that he doesn't need to cut and turn on it like a WR or RB does means he might return faster.

No official word yet.
Gibbs said he's not sure. So we probably won't know till Monday. |

A dislocated ankle is NOT a season ending injury. It's a bitch to come back from...so he will likely miss 4-6 weeks. If he misses the entire season, he also tore a lot ligaments...so it depends on how bad this is. If it's a pure dislocation, he will be back! |
Re: Jansen's discolated ankle
I spoke to a Physical Therapist about this. She said it is entirely dependant upon the amount of damage incurred when the ankle was dislocated. In other words, it isn't the dislocation that will be the problem, the damage done to the tendons will be the big thing. He could be back this year, or he could be out for the season, there's no way of knowing until they find out how much damage was done to the ankle.

Stephon came in a played a good game. So I am not to worried about losing him like I was back in 04.

He's still a rookie. Just cause he played fairly well doesn't mean we shouldn't be worried about his absence...Jansen is still a top tackle in this league and is very hard to replace! |

I feel awful for Jansen and, if he misses the season, we will suffer. But, in all honesty, I wonder whether he has much left in the tank. He will be 32 next season and hasn't looked like "the Rock" since 2003. |
Re: Jansen's discolated ankle
if this turns out to be it for him...he sure was an amazing redskin, in a time of disloyalty and free agency, he has been a measure of consistency

Re: Jansen's discolated ankle
If there is no ligament damage he can come back 8-10 weeks depending on severity. If there is ligament damage he is done for the season.

What I'm hearing right now doesn't look good. Still holding out hope though. You gotta wonder though, as you say, how much he's got left. Or how many more times he wants to go through another injury like this. He's already got a tv career lined up it seems so... |
Re: Jansen's discolated ankle
Well, I don't see this as an all bad thing. He was getting bullied in preseason (I know it's preseason), and he just hasn't looked the same the last couple of years. I think Heyer going up against Jason Taylor looked pretty good.
