Right Tackle
Actually I'm glad that Heyer is playing right tackle now. He is more versatile and more finesse than Jansen which fits the Al Saunders offense the best. I hate to see him get hurt but watch what I say. I know that I'm going to catch flack for saying this but I know what I'm talking about. He will be the future right tackle for us next year.

Re: Right Tackle
Yeah, I thought for sure Todd Wade would be in there.
I guess it's a good sign. Maybe Stephon Heyer will be the next Joe Jacoby --undrafted free agent signee -- and a fixture for years to come. |
Re: Right Tackle
You just might be right, that guy is a stud!!

Re: Right Tackle
I told you guys, all guys kept bashing on Heyer through the preseason.. I knew he could develop into good T..

Re: Right Tackle
Heyer looked decent for an NFL RT, and great for a UFA rookie RT. I hope, however, that Wade is healthy next week and can start. I really believe our passing game suffered greatly when Jansen went out and Cooley and/or the backs were being held in to block on the right side of the line.

Re: Right Tackle
I agree Heyer looked border line amazing, but come on guys lets not throw a party over this guy just yet. I would rather have Jansen out there at least for the rest of this year, unless he continues to get man-handled.

Re: Right Tackle
Heyer was good but he did get pushed back pretty bad a few times and Dierdorf remarked that he was playing too high on Taylor. If Wade is healthy he should be in there.

Didn't Taylor also aggravate his groin midway through the first half? So he wasn't 100% anyway |
Re: Right Tackle
Heyer really held up well considering he's basically never played right tackle. Its almost miraculous. I guess Gibbs was pretty brilliant in getting Heyer all that work in the pre-season.
My first instinct is to say put Wade in next week, but Perhaps Heyer is just this decades Jacoby. Either way we should be able to absorb the loss of Jansen - which is of course unfortunate. |
Re: Right Tackle
I think either Wade or Heyer will fill in nicely. The problem now becomes DEPTH. I would think that we will be searching the wire for some Off Tackles if the docs say Jansen is done for the year and/or an time that goes past 6 weeks.

Congratulations on predicting the score right. |
Re: Right Tackle
I liked the rookie. I was very, very impressed to not hear his name as the game progressed. That's the sign of a successful offensive lineman. Id rather see the rookie use this year to grow into the backup he'll probably be for his career. And starting reps will give him the experience he needs.

Re: Right Tackle
It's gonna be Wade (Redskins Insider if not already posted somewhere) from this point on.. I think that's probably a good thing, he's a veteran, typically plays RT, lets Heyer remain as quality depth at both OT positions..

Re: Right Tackle
i was really impressed with Wades play last season. Heyer gives the skins some depth. did an OK job after being rushed into playing
