Warning: Premature Thread About Gregg Williams
Yes, it's still early; very early. But I can't help to wonder that if our defense finds itself back into, say, the top 10 or 15 does that put Gregg Williams back into the mix as the heir apparent to Joe Gibbs?
So far the defense has looked encouraging, and I have to think Williams' stock rises or falls with how they perform this year. By the way, if the Skins totally crap in the bed for the rest of the season, Joe Gibbs will be back for the final year of his contract, so I think we can put that scenerio to rest. I love how the pundits are predicting a make or break year for Gibbs and how this could be his last season. |
Re: Warning: Premature Thread About Gregg Williams
I still think GW will be the man no matter what.I think that was the plan from day 1 and a disapointing season last year hasn't changed things one bit. Snyder has been really good about staying out of the coaches ear as he understands they have forgotten more about football than he will ever know. GW is a good defensive coach, he just needs a offensive guy to handle that side of things. Saunders leaves when Gibbs does IMO so we will need to find a new OC.

Re: Warning: Premature Thread About Gregg Williams
I hope Saunders leaves when Gibbs does, I don't like how he tries to make our offense so complicated, yet it never seems to do much.

I honestly don't care to think much further ahead then Philly. Let's cross this bridge when we have to.

I also would like to just worry about philly right now, let the cheerleaders worry about who is coaching in the future..... l

Really, the guy gets one year and your against him. I think you will see Williams become HC, and Blache become DC. It almost seems like it was in place from day one. And I am all for it. I think that when the day comes, our team will have a seemless transition since there will not be a whole coaching staff and roster turnover like in years past. Think how dumb it was to go from Norv, to Marty, to Spurrier in three years time. I'll bet we turned over 80-90% of the roster in three years. |

Re: Warning: Premature Thread About Gregg Williams
you would not want saunders leaving if williams took the head coaching job...Williams needs an Offensive coordinator....and i think saunders did a good job this week.

Did a good job of what? |

Re: Warning: Premature Thread About Gregg Williams
He did a good job during the game, sticking to the run when it was very clear they couldnt stop it. Al's first instinct is to do what the defense doesnt expect. Im a "mental midget" when it comes to football. But if it works, stick to it.
And furthermore, don't judge Al on any given week. Judge him on his career offensive production. That will put his value into perspective for us. |

I'd rather not talk about something so far in the future, but since its Friday and I'm bored I will. Saunders is a great offensive mind. No question. He's been in several places and his record speaks for itself. The number #1 thing that AS needs to be successful though is an accurate and smart QB. I'm not saying that JC can't be that guy, but he's not right now. He's got to start showing some signs. Now let's wait til the end of this year or even the end of next to judge his offense. It does take some time but other teams didn't have a real difficult time learning it. Also, we all know that Joe Gibbs runs the show too. He's got some input, major input. Whether that's good or bad...not sure. |
Re: Warning: Premature Thread About Gregg Williams
You know what sucks about Saunders? He supposedly was born in London, but he doesn't talk like a Brit. I think it would be kind of unique to the NFL and bad ass if he was all hoity toity (sp?) and saying stuff like "By golly, that bloody bloke can toss that bugger clear across the pond. Good show Ole chap."

But that would suggest reason and levity. |
