Thomas update from JLac
From the Post:
Randy Thomas In The House Randy is talkign to us now. He says he tore the muscle off the bone and will be back at least 10-12 weeks. The Redskins are meeting now to determine whether to put him on IR - "It's out of my hands," Thomas said - but he hopes to have a chance to play again this season if at all possible. "I want to be there," Thomas said. Randy is obviously groggy after 7:30 surgery this morning and he is moving slowly, as expected, but was smiling more than he had been the last few days. "Actually Im positive today. The last couple of days was tough." Randy says he'll spend six weeks in a cast and then they will evalaute how the left arm is healing then. Jason Campbell was laughing about hwo much he'll miss Randy, particularly his Tuesday cookouts. "I'm going to miss those steaks," Campbell said. Randy says, JC need not worry: "What do you mean? i can flip steaks with my right hand, brother." Still waiting to find out if the Skins are going to sign any of the guys they brought in today. I imagine a roster move is coming of some sort. Redskins Insider |
Re: Thomas update from JLac
Big Randy loves him some meat. Hopefully he gets a chance to return this season.

Re: Thomas update from JLac
this is way way too far ahead, but if we manage to make the playoffs...imagine what a huge boost it would be to get thomas and janson back?

Re: Thomas update from JLac
Hail to the Redskins baby,Turning Negatives into Positives Gotta love Randy for that.

Re: Thomas update from JLac
I hope he comes back too. But can we afford to keep his roster spot open for a chance that he can play in 10 to 12 weeks?
|
Re: Thomas update from JLac
So if he can come back early december, we should def. keep him active.
Early december is 10 weeks from now, but a 31 year old with injury history? my gut tells me he is done. But it would be awesome to have him back. |

No chance on Jansen. He's already on IR, which means his season is over. But if Randy Thomas lives up to the best case scenario (10-12 weeks), then we would get him back somewhere between the Tampa Bay game Nov. 26th and the Bears game Dec 6th. He's such a leader. I just don't want to think about what will happen if we have another bad injury on the O-line.... |
Re: Thomas update from JLac
What does injured reserved mean. I thought if you are put on IR you re done for the season. What does the reserved part mean?

He had a broken fibula a few seasons back late in the year, but returned 100% and played all 16 games last year. Actually, he's started 13 or more games every year of his 8 season career. 5 of those seasons he started all 16 games. |

Jansen is on IR. Can't play again this season by rule. |

I think we can afford to do it right now. Each week will require us to evaluate if we still can keep him on the active. If we are blessed with more health than in past years then it is conceivable to keep him on the active for 7 or 8 weeks and then see where he is at and whether it is even possible for him to play by seasons end. If that cast comes off and he can bulk that arm up at a good pace for the following 6 weeks then he can play. It is worth trying for right now. |

Personally I'm surprised that he gets to leave the hospital on the same day as surgery. Everytime I get surgery I have the pleasure of staying 23.5 hours at the hospital. |
Re: Thomas update from JLac
man, that guy seems to have a pretty good attitude for just losing a season, again.
