Joey Harrington
I think there are a lot of people that dogged him that now need to give him some props.
983 yards, 4tds, 2ints, and a 71.2% comp %. 98.2 QB rating. He's 9th in yards, and 4th in comp%. He's 10th in 1st downs for qb's, He's one of the hottest QB's in football. 584yards and 4 td's in last 2 games. |
Re: Joey Harrington
Those stats are pretty darn good, but that guy has been a massive bust as the number three overall pick. He deserves no props yet IMO. Maybe if he actually keeps it up for a season and or the Falcons actually win more than they lose.

That's not gonna happen, and it won't be Harrington's fault. The Falcons have very poor talent overall. |
Re: Joey Harrington
Falcons are doomed for years to come unless they get some resolve and help from Goodell. If they wait for Vick they will pay the price. Fortunately we can wait til December to hear anymore about him. Hopefully for his sake...

Re: Joey Harrington
You are judged by win & losses. The ONLY way your getting any "props" in this league is to WIN.
|
Re: Joey Harrington
isnt it all about wins? he still has the lowest win percentage, of all time, with qbacks with at least 25 starts.( i think thats what the stat was)
|
Re: Joey Harrington
I feel dirty for picking him up in one of my leagues, but he is playing well right now and until Brees gets it going I can't afford to keep getting zero or negative points at QB.
|
Re: Joey Harrington
So Brees is screwing you well too Matty ?
He is SO the weak link on my team. |
Re: Joey Harrington
Harrington wasn't the only QB bust of that draft. Patrick Ramsey and David Carr were also selected in the 1st round that year. So many factors go into a QB successfully transitioning from college to pros, and much of it is falling into an offensive system that is a good fit. Perhaps Bobby Petrino is what Harrington needed all along.

Re: Joey Harrington
oh god. i hope we aren't getting into that again
You are judged by win & losses. They will keep switching QBs to try to find a "winner" without realizing the problem lies elsewhere.
oh god. i hope we aren't getting into that again
Dmek - my point is that landing in a system that fits is often just as important as a QBs ability. Spurrier's lack of QB protection in his system was probably the worst thing that happened to Ramsey. Same can be said for Carr's porous O-line in Houston. I'm very intrigued to watch Harrington's development in Petrino's system after back-to-back excellent games. Perhaps they're an aberration, or perhaps we're about to witness the resurrection of a career.

Re: Joey Harrington
No defense for Carr now, I know Carolina doesen't have the best offensive line, but it was better than the one in Houston. Anyone see the Carolina game last weekend? They got smacked, and Carr wasn't moving the ball at all, his receivers dropped a few, but he wasn't that great himself.

i look at that alittle differently. Matt Shaub seems to be doing just fine behind basically the same line that almost got David Carr killed. in this league, its all about decision making. and how fast you can make them |

Prior to that, Charley Casserly did very little to give Carr an NFL quality OL. That said, I would take Schaub over Carr, but I would take Campbell over either of them.
