should we try and sign Grady Jackson?

I'm surprised this thread wasnt started already, according to espn jackson has been released, and I know we need more help on the off line then the def line, but i dont see any good off lineman being released. The dude is old{35} but he has more tackles than anybody on our def line except for Carter,Carter has 25,Griffin has 19,nobody else has more than 10,Jackson has 21,I dont know why Atl released him,but I think he could add something to our def

I think we have decent depth on the D-Line. I'd rather develop some of the guys we already have.

No for a multitude of reasons, not least of which is the fact that I suspect his release in Atlanta was not because he was playing so great and they just couldn't stand it. Weight, attitude, performance, age, some combination of those and other factors. I'm gonna say weight might have played a role. Check out the photo of this guy. I know he is a DT and a run-stuffer who takes up space, but this guy makes Tony Siragusa look svelte. He needs to go on the Biggest Loser not on the Skins roster.

Re: should we try and sign Grady Jackson?

We have one of the top defenses in the league, so no. Although from what I understand him being cut had nothing to do with his play, which is still very high level.

Don't mess with the defense.

Look for some OL players for now.

We don't need a 35 year old fatass.

Let me be the first to chime in with the inevitable, "Let's sign him to the vet minimum, whats the worst that could happen?".

Seriously though, our DLine is much improved this year. They don't need to make as many tackles thanks to our excellent LB play. They just need to fill gaps and try to bring pressure from the ends. I don't think we need help.

The best thing about this thread; the first line. Surprised it wasn't started already.

That's a sign of progress here, we're not jumping to start threads about every quasi big name player available, and then once one is started eveybody says NO!

I'll follow the trend here & say no as well.

Re: should we try and sign Grady Jackson?

I will disagree.
Our defense is solid against passing teams...but I am not so confident in their running defense. Yes, the Dline has been good so far in the middle....but for depth, Grady Jackson would be solid. In fact, a rotation for him would keep him fresh.

I say add him if we dont have to ditch anyone on the d line...perhaps cut a WR, we have too many.
