Wet field in Boston?
During the series last night the rain was coming down steadily & it's forecast w/good chance of rain through saturday.
Maybe that gives the field time to drain as its supposed to be dry & sunny on sunday, but it might be slick. Seems that 'experts' always differ on the impact of a wet field, but I would think that it would give the Pats wr's an advantage over our db's since it's their field. Thoughts? |
Re: Wet field in Boston?
Personally, I dont think it gives their WR's any advantage cause its "their" field. We have experience playing in wet conditions as well. And it almost always benefits the defense on both sides of the ball.
IF anything...I'd say this would be a big benefit to us! It will slow the game down, and fall more in Gibbs' comfort zone and probably move more towards a running game which suits our style better. A wet field or rain for that matter makes it harder for WR's to make plays. My $0.02 |
Re: Wet field in Boston?
Non-issue.

Unless three more lineman go down, which is what happened in Green Bay. |

One advantage for the home team and a wet field is that the equipment guy's know the field better and what kind of cleats the players should use. |

Concur, a non-issue. I believe that stadium is field turf like most and does not stay slick after a rain. Now if it rains DURING the game you have an issue of keeping the footballs dry. |
Re: Wet field in Boston?
i dont know if i would call it a non issue. remember green bay?

Re: Wet field in Boston?
Let's hope the wet Green Bay game is over with and we are conditioned enough to play 4 quarters not just half a game
looks like we miss Coy Gibbs's conditioning coaching
i dont know if i would call it a non issue. remember green bay?
|
Re: Wet field in Boston?
I don't remember Coy Gibbs having anything to do with conditioning

I don't know how much time is needed for that to happen though. If it rains steadily the next few days as expected the area will be inundated. |
Re: Wet field in Boston?
I don't think the wet field affected us at all against Green Bay. I think us playing like ass in the second half affected us at Green Bay.
We know how to catch the ball in the rain. We know how to run in the rain. Our team is from Washington DC and plays outdoors, not from New Orleans and plays indoors. If we get beat by the Patriots, I can guarantee it won't be because of a wet field. This thread is retarded. |
Re: Wet field in Boston?
You are right quality control is on the field not before the field
Thanks and will watch what's in the Kool Aid
I don't remember Coy Gibbs having anything to do with conditioning
|

If you noticed the last sentence of the post, I mentioned that there is always talk about how weather affects a game. Part of the reason for the thread was to discuss how it would impact the game, e.g. advantage to running, passing? IF the field is wet. If "we know how to run in the rain" did Moss' slip & fumble have nothing to do w/the rain? sounds like you think so, I just disagree. |
Re: Wet field in Boston?
I disagree that the field didn't cause us problems in GB. You ever tried to run with a groin or hamstring pull? You ever tried to run on a slippery surface when you're perfectly healthy?
Now try combining both, and running on a slippery surface with a groin or hammy. You can't go full speed and you'll run gimpy. |
