I put this in the Fantasy Football forum because really this probably only matters to those of us unlucky enough to have him on our Fantasy Football teams |
Re: Report: Larry Johnson Out For The Year
Evidence piece #122 for argument: Don't let Clinton Portis carry over 300 times this year.

Dude come on, he was caught from behind on a tackle, his toe caught in the turf, and boom. I can't see how anyone can tie the workload to a foot getting caught under a defender. It's just an unfortunate accident. I am by no means saying work Portis to death. But Johnson's workload was definitely not the cause here. |

I know that workload correlates with injury. Yeah, I'm making an assumption by assuming this play wasn't the product of pure dumb luck, but isn't your risk of injury greatly increased when joints are tired, sore and weakened? This kind of play happens to most running backs on a per game basis, but they walk away fine. My best guess says that Johnson was an incredible injury risk, and if anything he was pretty lucky to get 8 games in before this happened to him. I feel bad for the guy, because this is what he gets for giving his team everything he had last year. I doubt he's ever going to be anything good again. |
Re: Report: Larry Johnson Out For The Year
Who woulda thunk it? I figured Priest's career was over. He's got a chance to be a nice story down the stretch. I think he and the rook Kolby Smith will share some time. Priest hasn't played in a game of any kind since 2005, so I doubt he's gonna see more than 10 or 15 touches a game for a while. Larry Johnson's injury sounds a lot to me like the dreaded lis franc sprain.

Re: Report: Larry Johnson Out For The Year
I already pounced on the waiver wire for Justin Fargas. He is starting for Oakland .

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO DAMNIT ! This guy in my league woke up at 3:43 yesterday morning to sign Priest Holmes ! DAMNIT ! The whole year ? Looks like I just had a roster spot open up !

Re: Report: Larry Johnson Out For The Year
It's a shame for LJ. Kolby Smith and Priest Holmes will pick up the slack, with Smith most likely getting the load until Holmes gets back into playing mode.
Justin Fargas is a good pickup. He'll get 20+ touches to take the pressure off whomever Lane Kifkin decides to put under center. Ryan Grant for Green Bay may be another good pickup. If Ron Dayne's available, might be worth the chance, as Ahman Green is hurt once again. Maurice Morris will get more touches with Shaun Alexander hurting. Selvin Young and Leon Washington are two lower level pickups... |
