McCardel Catch, that wasn't called a catch.
after 2 replays was easy enuff to see he did indeed catch the ball, but u know, the refs blow another game for us, cuz there went the momentum and we were driving for at least a field goal... it's bullshit..
this win was bullshit... i love how jason looked but still this whole game was just officiated poor, like on westbrook td landry was obviously helf jersey IN HANDS AN ALL VISIBLE... FUCKIN BULLSHIT.... can't wait till next week our team will be pissed. & to answer other threads... i think maybe Joe gibbs should step down.. not sure about replacement but... i unno... he's not the same loud mean vocal coach he was when he was younger.... we need more inspiration.. i unno.... befuttling loss... |
Re: McCardel Catch, that wasn't called a catch.
Well, who has the final say on challenges????
I guess it was too important to challenge the Betts fumble... |
Re: McCardel Catch, that wasn't called a catch.
Personally, I didn't think it was a catch, despite a tremendous throw by Campbell. It's a moot point when we're out of timeouts to call for a challenge because our coach wastes a timeout earlier trying to decide whether to kick a field goal.

Re: McCardel Catch, that wasn't called a catch.
For what it's worth, he didn't call TO to think about kicking. He was going to kick once we didn't get the first down. But the personnel were not on the field, and the play clock ran down. Could have taken a penalty, I guess. But that's not seen as a great idea, usually, and Shuish did miss a PAT.
The other TOs were by JC and on a reasonable challenge of the Betts fumble. That was not the difference maker today, IMO, and I'm surprised at the play it's getting. Cooley's false start. Westbrook's romping on our Taylor-less secondary. And the pathetic goal line series. That was why we lost. It would have been nice to have the TOs, don't get me wrong. But lots more went wrong than that. |

We're down by the goal line, it's 3rd and 1, Gibbs/Saunders need to think 1 play ahead and know what you're gonna do if they don't get the 1st down. We're paying them $7M combined a year and they need that much time to run a routine FG? Waste a TO then kick anyway?? Joke. |
Re: McCardel Catch, that wasn't called a catch.
it looked like a catch on the replay but it was pretty close... we just had no timeouts left due to the only thing proven consistent about this team... bad clock management.

Re: McCardel Catch, that wasn't called a catch.
The fan inside of me says it was a catch, but realistically speaking, if we were able to challenge that call (since it was called incomplete) it probably would've been too close to be overturned.

That is exactly why he needs to step down if you call the TO find a play to get the first don't call it then kick it. It was a catch but that dumb TO is the reason why we couldn't challenge it. |

That had Gibbs signature meddling all over it. I literally wanted to bang my head aganst the railing on that one. The best was that they called the TO almost immediately. It wasn't like they were running out of time. That may have been one of the worst calls that I have ever seen (or #7 on this year's clock management debacles). |

First the coaches took too much time deciding to get the FG team out there, then they waste the timeout instead of taking a delay of game. Not much difference between kicking a 28 yard FG vs. a 23 yard FG. Just a botch job by the coaches all the way around.

Failing to transition to teams effectively is on the coaches, no doubt. My point was mainly that I didn't think that was the killer. Failing to score a TD from the 3, and then giving up 20 4th quarter points to the iggles and single-handly reviving Reid and McNabb's jobs were the real issues, IMO. The TO is a red-herring. Or did y'all miss our defensive COLLAPSE out there? |
Re: McCardel Catch, that wasn't called a catch.
It's our own fault. We can never manage the clock in the second half. It is the coach's fault and instead of always making excuses go out and do your fucking job. Bottom line, just get the fucking job done. Don't always waist your timeouts like they don't matter with our without the lead.

Re: McCardel Catch, that wasn't called a catch.
clock management has been a problem since day one of gibbs 2.0

Re: McCardel Catch, that wasn't called a catch.
Well, yeah there were mistakes, but it sure looked like a catch to me and I looked at it more than once. If we had converted that it would have changed the entire momentum of that drive. We screwed up a lot but that still was a shitty call.

Re: McCardel Catch, that wasn't called a catch.
Now I was at a bar and watching the game without the benefit of sound, but it looked like a catch to me. McCardell had 3 steps in bounds after the ball hit his hands. Were people questioning whether he had possession with 2 steps in bounds? Was he bobbling the ball? Otherwise, it looked like an obvious catch to me.
