Peter King's take on the Taylor tragedy
 

I know a lot of people here hate Peter King, but I think we wrote a nice piece on Taylor, media's tendency to rush to judgement, and the effects a player's past may have on his future. Personally, I think it's worth the quick read.

People can never completely be free from their past. They can put it behind them or move on but complete freedom can not be achieved. I believe the saying is, "The past is prologue."

trouble follows trouble. A person like Sean Taylor probably has enemies because of his thuggish past. The guy who shot him most likely knew him. You would never see Tim Duncan getting shot up.

If that is the case...previous enemies...thats a shame. I believe too that based on what i have read and seen that it is going to be something like that. Which i base this opinion on the break in 8 days ago where nothing was taken. Why he would have gone home and better yet no alarm system? I guess its easy to say what if now.....he will be missed on and off the field.

Ok besides the one brandishing a firearm trying to figure out who took something of his what else did he do for you to say he had a thuggish past? You have a total of two post and both suggest that Taylor brought this trouble onto himself and if thats all you can add go find another site to post its not need here.

Yep, everyone saying this some "random burglary" does not deal with crime. As a criminal investigator for 15 years I assure you contrary to popular opinion, random crime is very very rare, certainly nothing like this. The Weird-Shit-O-Meter is peggin' the needle on this. Not long ago ST was waving a gun around in someone's face because he thought they stole his 4-wheeler. I guess he was willing to kill someone over an ATV?

You really don't think he was thug??? This is what is wrong with people's obsession with sports, they will forgive and look over the worst kind of charachter and make thme out to be some responsible law abiding citizen. His house had already been broken into 10 days ago, when police reports surmised that someone had entered through a front window before looking through Taylor's personal affairs and leaving a kitchen knife on a bed???? Come on dude, if you want to live you life with blinders on, k nock yourself out if it makes you feel better. This was a "warning" gone bad. They coulda at least stuck a decapitated horse's head in his bedsheets.

Really??? When is the time for stuff like this??? maybe it's too little to late of this. I heard on a sports show last night that his phone lines had been cut. Sounds like he was marked for some reason.

This was clearly not random, the target was Sean Taylor, nothing was stolen so it damn sure wasn't a burglary, so what else is there?

Look his past is what is, but clearly he was trying to make changes in his life and seemed to be headed in that direction. Unlike the media, it is not our job here on this site to cover the entire story. I think in this forum we should simply pay our respects at this time to a life lost and discuss the "why did this happen" later.

Let's not forget Sean Taylor was the victim here.

Yes he had a troubled past but from all accounts he appeared to have moved on from that.

What are you trying to do here other than rile people up??

He was a victim of senseless violence period. No if ands or buts about it. Regardless of anything this was absolutely senseless violence.
