Postponing the Chicago game?

There are a lot of threads, so I hope this hasn't already been covered.

It was mentioned yesterday on the radio that Sean Taylor's funeral is next week. One of the possibilities brought up is that the NFL could postpone the Chicago game until Sunday, so that the Redskins can get a full week to prepare during such a tragic time.

I know it would be difficult since it's the NFL Network's game, and there are TV contracts that would be affected. And it might be even more difficult to get two other teams to play instead.

I really hope the NFL could pull this off. Could a petition be put together on this? Any ideas?

I think it'd be smart to move the game to a SAT night or perhaps SUN night. THURS is too quick I think. #21 Sean Taylor is on the CHI ticket!
I think something might be done about this...

I hadn't even looked at the tickets. That's eerie.

I don't think the game will be postponed on such short notice, in fact I think the NFL will want to hold the game as scheduled so that they can honor Sean Taylor themselves. Its still a week away and anything can happen, but moving the game back to Sunday is a lot different than flexing a game from Sunday afternoon to Sunday evening.

Its a game, but its a business as well, and the show must go on. If anything good comes out of it, it will bring us together as a team..

The real plus to playing the schedule "as is" would be that the team will be focused on practices, plans, games, and the funeral service until they get a long break. All the busy work preparing for these two games might keep players occupied.

Today's Wash Post says that the Skins will play as scheduled. Rescheduling games is just too difficult for all involved.

I think that's too bad. The NFL needs to step in here and help The Redskins out on this. The whole team is going to the funeral so that means they are going to miss a day to prepare on an already short week. I would hope that they would move it back a day. I don't think that's asking too much.

I think moving the Chicago game to Saturday would be smart. Ratings would still be high for the NFL Network as it would be the only football of any kind on TV (I think) that night, and it would help the Skins immensely.

I did hear Clayton say this morning that it doesn't look like the Skins are going to ask for any help whatsoever regarding scheduling.

Pasta-belly just said on NFL Live that talks are ongoing with the league as to how they will handle next Thursday's game. He also said it going to be pretty difficult to push that game back. Damn.

I think as tough as its gonna be, the game will be standing on Thursday night as planned.

I think they should reschedule it considering the Redskins are going through a tough time. Even if it's till Saturday. It's going to be tough trying to get ready for a game under these circumstances.

I think the fact that they've scheduled Sean's funeral for Monday makes it pretty obvious next Thursday's game isn't being moved.

There are a lot of other logistics to consider as well. Getting the production trucks from one venue to the next. Finding hotel rooms for all production crew plus the players. Staffing the stadium, and so on.

Maybe they could just bar the Bears from practicing while the Redskins are at the funeral.

That's actually an excellent idea. It's logistically very easy, and would help even the playing field as far as game preparation is concerned. Also, the Bears are a pretty classy organization and I'm sure they'd comply with that request with no qualms.
