Redskins establish trust fund for Sean's daughter
Found on the team website (Link)
Dan Snyder will donate $500,000 to start and wanted to do this so his daughter Jackie can have all of the advantages whe would have gotten had Sean lived and made the kind of money he's capable of making... Donations can be made to: The Sean Taylor Memorial Fund c/o The Washington Redskins 21300 Redskins Park Drive Ashburn, VA 20147 My understanding is this is completely separate and independant of the Sean Taylor Memorial Fund being set up by Gulliver Schools, Inc. which was mentioned in another thread... Mods fell free to move this if it's in the wrong space...I did a board search so I know this news has not been mentioned yet. |
Re: Redskins establish trust fund for Sean's daughter

Re: Redskins establish trust fund for Sean's daughter
Not to mention Ed Reed, Ray Lewis, Jerome McDougale, Rocky Macintosh, Portis, Santana and Sinorice Moss, Shockey, Antrel Rolle, Andre Johnson, Frank Gore, the list goes on for Miami players who have made it financially in the NFL. I'm sure Jackie and the baby as well as Sean's family will be well taken care of, and deservedly so. I'm so glad to see the Danny step up and make that kind of contribution. I'm sure Gibbs and G.Williams will make healthy contributions as well.

Just one of many reasons Snyder is one of the best NFL owners. STs family will be taken care of, and that helps me deal with some of this.
Snyder is also taking the whole organization to the funeral. |

This is a great, classy move. I think Dan Snyder has shown a ton of class during this whole ordeal, makes me feel a lot better about him as an owner.

Re: Redskins establish trust fund for Sean's daughter
Snyder always has seemed like a Good person and now he has shown that with this gesture, which he wasnt obligated to do and for not that amount of money. She will be taken care of for a long while-Mr Snyder gave them a blessing with this.

Re: Redskins establish trust fund for Sean's daughter
OK... I know I am about to get slammed by my comments, but a part of this bothers me.
First and foremost... I agree 100% that the Redskins did the right thing establishing a fund that Synder and some of the players can contribute to... to ensure that this young lady gets the quality of education that her father would have provided had he lived... that is not my issue. My issue with this is the part where they say where to send contributions to... from the general public. How many kids go to bed hungry every night because they don't have enough food on the table. Or can't finish school because they have to support the family etc??? While the team should be supporting this young lady, to ask the public to donate to that fund instead of helping others, well.... that's just wrong. OK... let me have it.. but I have been on a rant here at my house since I read that part. |

They're not telling you have to do one at the expense of the other. |

People that scream at other people donating their money where they wish I'm not in favor of. Hail Skins FYI: I fed 500 at Walter Reed Army Medical Center this summer and didn't send a penny to Sean Taylor's family ...yet |

While I think the Redskin have the obligation (as they obviously agree) to do the right thing by this little girl... I think the public can do much better with their funds since she already has a MINIMUM of half a mil... with the players $$$ to come (and if I was a player, I would donate to her trust also). |
Re: Redskins establish trust fund for Sean's daughter
Cool
You make yer personal choice by not donating. The great thing about free will is some "may" choose to send some for this child. I won't send money but I hope all the people that want to do send what they want. I'd like to "hope" they take care of the poor too but.....that's their choice. If I had my way you all would be sending money to *(*&&^%^%$%&**& which is my passion but I won't get on folks cases for not spending "my Cherity's way". peace Hail Skins |

My complaint is that the Skins are asking for it. I think the money they will raise from the team and players around the league will be more than enough... and they didn't need to have this go public... but a memorial fund that helps some other good cause (which if I remember, is mentioned in another thread) IS something they should open to the public. |
