Who called the 2nd timeout?
I know Gibbs called the first, but who called the 2nd? They never said he did. It could have been a player. I don't think it's an excuse, but seriously any idiot knows the rules and if Gibbs was the one who called it he really isn't helping us win.
I don't even know what to say. |
Re: Who called the 2nd timeout?
Whoever it was is gonna have a whole world of shit coming their way, that's for sure. I hope it wasn't Gibbs the dude is old enough to know the rules and the penalties. I can excuse lack of knowledge from a player but not from an old coach.

Re: Who called the 2nd timeout?
Gibbs just admitted that he did it. End of story.

Re: Who called the 2nd timeout?
Gibbs is falling on his sword now in the post-game presser.

Re: Who called the 2nd timeout?
Just hope he won't be stubborn enough to return for another year. Please, just retire at the end of this mediocre year.

Yup. Just said he made a "heat of the moment" decision. Basically saying he forgot the damn rule. Thanks Joe. :screama: |
Re: Who called the 2nd timeout?
Another 5-11 year is starring us in the face. Say what you want, but when the team as a whole isn't playing well, constantly flat, not doing simple tasks, it eventually comes down to coaching. It trickles from the top down. Blaming it on depth on the Oline? Guess who the team President is.
Gibbs v2 failed. Get him out. |
Re: Who called the 2nd timeout?
I think Gibbs acknowledged calling both, but does the TO really make a difference. We should not have allowed then the opportunity to be in FG range.

This team must learn to finish drives. Another false start on a 4th and 1 inside the 10. The strength of Gibbs 1.0 was a stout O-line. Gibbs 2.0 hasn't invested higher than a 5th round pick to build young O-line depth.
With the entire starting O-line approaching 30 years or older, it's time to draft young depth with higher draft choices. |

Gibbs v2 failed. Get him out.
i have supported him to this day. But I agree now... |
Re: Who called the 2nd timeout?
what is one more year going to hurt? A new coach is just going to go through a bunch of bullshit when he gets here cause we're not doing things his way. there are a couple of adjustments that need to be made to get this team on track and given the circumstances with the injuries and death of our best player, I say give it time.
I don't see how anyone could form or change an opinion of this team based on this game |

yes it does make a difference because that is how joe gibbs plays the game unfotunatley and that is to barely win, or not win at all. |
Re: Who called the 2nd timeout?
To play devil's advocate for a minute here. Let's just suppose someone else (Danny Smith?) had called the timeout, does anyone really think Gibbs would have done anything other than take the blame for it?
I'm not saying Gibbs didn't call the timeout. I'm sure he did. But if he didn't, do you think (save for video evidence) anyone would ever know? |
Re: Who called the 2nd timeout?
Yea i really agree GIBBS is done, he needs to retire, i am so upset with ST still that the game doesn't really even bother me anymore but if gibbs goes who replaces him? GW

This argument bothers me. Did this penalty directly lead to the Redskins loss? We don't know. Chances are Lindel would have hit it through. However, when you knock 45 feet off of a FG attempt in a cold rainy atmosphere, you're doing the other team a huge favor. Losses aren't often based on one mistake, a loss is based on the compilation of mistakes. When those mistakes are coming from the coaches, it's really bad. The Oline did struggle, but in fairness, the defense didnt give up a single TD and our offense gave up 2 of those points.
I don't see how anyone could form or change an opinion of this team based on this game
This just added fuel to the fire. If it were just this week, kinda understandable. But we're seeing a trend and not going after it. |
