Gibbs' Health
I understand this is an odd time to inquire about the health status of a Redskin, outside injuries, so I'll give a brief explanation.
Usually I don't look at team pics but over the last week I've viewed a ton of them, both coaches and players. It's the first time I've looked at close-ups of coach and I noticed his age. What I mean is that Gibbs looks much older, and in a way more sickly, than my grandfather did when his heart gave out at the ripe old age of 82. Then I saw someone mention that Gibbs has had various health issues in the past, which evidently played a role in his first, and somewhat early, retirement. Being way outside the local "loop" for D.C. sports gossip, I wondered if anyone has heard speculation about Gibbs' health? |
Re: Gibbs' Health
He's diabetic, but otherwise healthy. Coaching in the NFL would "age" anyone though

The diabetes fits - my uncle (by marriage) suffers from diabetes and has aged well beyond his years. Actually, I know that in more serious cases of diabetes memory loss and brain-function become a major concern over time. My relative has a hard time thinking clearly now because the diabetes, according to what he's told me, causes numerous "mini-strokes" that collectively have the effect of a regular stroke on brain function. Scary stuff!!! |
Re: Gibbs' Health
other then starting to lose his little kid look, i think coach looks pretty good for his age

Re: Gibbs' Health
He seems in great shape physically. Dennis Green lost 100 lbs when he worked on ESPN then put it back on in 2 months when he came back to coach the Cardinals. It is definaltely a stressfull position.

Re: Gibbs' Health
He seems to be fine to me given the circumstances.
He keeps himself in pretty good shape for his age and diabetic condition. |
Re: Gibbs' Health
I have thought that Gibbs has looked better over the past couple of years. That could be because we really did not see him much after he retired and when he came back looked much older. He did not leave football over his health he wanted to move on in life and try a new challange.

Re: Gibbs' Health
He should be alright, I mean look at good ol' Bobby Bowden.

Re: Gibbs' Health
he looks the same to me.hell he looks the same if they are winning 40-0,or losing 52-0!!!
he needs an easier job like president of the usa. |
Re: Gibbs' Health
Honestly, with the stress and hours these guys work. Im surprised they don't age 3:1 compared to regular folks.

Re: Gibbs' Health
He definitely looks fit to me...when I met him in May this year, I couldn't believe how big he actually was....his chest stuck out like he lifted on a regular basis.

Re: Gibbs' Health
I really hope he's okay. I may not agree with his play calls and more recent coaching decisions, but the man is a God around the Washington area.

Re: Gibbs' Health
Gibbs is fine. I hope I look that good at his age.

I think I heard he is only 67. Am I all wet here or what? |
Re: Gibbs' Health
What do you mean "only 67"
How old did you think he was? |
