Redskins Cinderella story?

Imagine for a moment that the Skins manage to make it to the playoffs.

Seriously, how great of a story would that be considering everything this team has been through?! All the injuries, Taylor's death... and a 36 year old backup QB leads the team to the playoffs? You just can't write a better script.

Ok, day dream over. I just thought it would be a great story if it came true.

~Fingers crossed~

As long as "Vegas" says it's okay the league will probably guide the Skins' playoffs hopes to fruition.

I'm trying to think who came back from such adversity and a losing record this late to make it in, but I can't think of any team like that. Well, nobody has lost a Pro Bowl caliber player to a brutal murder that's for sure. Rebounding from a tragedy of that magnitude hasn't been done.

As far as QBs go, Hostetler did a fine job replacing Phil Simms late in the season and won the Super Bowl, but that was a much better team than the '07 Redskins.

In short, yes, we would be the Cinderella Story of the ages.

I would not say for the ages. 84 hockey team and George Mason in the final four are bigger cinderella stories to me.

With that said I would be ahppy to see them go to the playoffs!

It wouldn't be as much of a Cinderella story as it would be an equalizer. We weren't some football team with a $30 million dollar payroll an obscure coach who started 0-6 before their starting QB got knocked out and the autistic backup lead us to a playoff birth.

We were a very, very good football team who was ready to compete with the likes of Dallas and Green Bay prior to being beset by injuries and tragedy all year long and playing one of the toughest schedules across the league in the process. We were a near lock for a playoff birth before we got physically and emotionally ravaged.

We definately deserve the playoff birth, even though its a longshot at this point.

I think we'd be the feel good story of the year if we made the playoffs, but in terms of Cinderellas, I think the Bills and Vikings would be better suited for that crown if either made the playoffs.

just think if they won a superbowl on a interception return by Reed Doughty in OT

I think the main point is it would be uplifting as hell to see them make the playoffs. Whether or not it's a "cinderella" deal, whatever. All I know is it would feel really really good, and I'd be really proud of them for it.

I don't want to get my hopes up, but here's hoping anyway.

Yeah that's my point. Whatever we want to call it, it would be great to see them overcome this disaster of a season and make the playoffs.

Something tells me the Saints are going to crap on our season. We'll both win out. :(

The Saints really don't deserve it.

The same thought crossed my mind this week too. Especially after Campbell went down. I've already been running the movie through my head (Hey... I'm a drama director, it's what I do).

I've even envisioned a scene much like the "Lt. Dan" one from Forrest Gump. Basically, after Campbell's injury, one of the team members breaks down under the weight of all they've endured, they curse the football gods and cry out to the sky, "Is that the best you've got? Come and get me! Ahahahahaha!!!! Then they make their peace with God and win the Superbowl.

I know. I have way too much time on my hands.
