Around The NFL
The Patriots are hands down number one. Who is after them? Currently it is Dallas, Indy, and Green Bay. Next up is Jacksonville in standings. I am curious, where would you rank the top 5 in the NFL?
ME: 1) New England 2) Dallas 3) Indy 4) Green Bay 5) As records go, I'd say Pittsburgh, but honestly, I think San Diego is more dangerous. |
Re: Around The NFL
The Norv has his group peaking at a good time. I wouldn't want to have to face them in the playoffs. Ditto Jacksonville.
By contrast, Dallas seems to be in a bit of a funk. I am confident that Wade Phillips will play to type and find a way to blow what should be a sure SB appearance. Head Cheerleaders are fine in October, but you need a Head Coach in January. |

An old worn out team like the Redskins can limp into the playoffs and beat the hell out of someone. In fact, if I'm Tampa or Green Bay I don't want to see this team again. That being said, I like Jax more and more in the AFC. |

Jacksonville is built like a Super Bowl team, IMO.
I would NOT want to have anything to do with them in the playoffs even if I was a NE fan (vomit) and I knew we could play them in Foxboro in two feet of snow. |

No team wants to face the Redskins in the playoffs. The Redskins manage to keep close with any opponent (except the Patriots) and always seem to have a chance to win at the end of the game. Redskins play physical football and you may beat them but the victory will take it's toll. Redskin football is perfect for bad conditions and is just what you need in December and January. |

The Pats have had two games in really crappy weather and they haven't played all that well because the wind disrupts their passing game. yesterday they scored off a INT for 6 and a blocked punt that gave them the ball right near the goal line. Other than that all they could muster against the jets was 2 field goals. The Jags have 2 really good running backs and a tough as shit D, so they're pretty much suited to grind it out in the playoffs. They just beat the #1 (or at least it was, not sure if they still are) defense in the league in the mud. Like I said, if I were a pats fan I would dread seeing the Jags in the playoffs. |
Re: Around The NFL
I'm not buying SD. They've blown out some bad teams recently. Big whoop. As long as their coach is Norv, they will always be one step away from disaster.

It's The Year of The Norv. I believe that he will confound his critics this time. |

That sounds like a movie - The Year of the Norv - got a soundtrack to that? |
Re: Around The NFL
Maybe we could get SmootSmack to write some alternate lyrics to this classic:

The Chargers are close to where they were at this point last year. Only difference is that the Colts, Cowboys, and Pats are way, way better. |

The Packers have the skill to beat the Cowboys, Jags, or Chargers on any given Sunday. However, I have them just outside of my top 5 right now. |

I was reflecting on the talent of the team, not the coach. San Diego is as good as any NFC team, maybe not Dallas. I'd say that they are maybe 3 in the AFC, being behind Indy and NE. They are dangerous on both sides of the ball. |
