Risk or Reward Albert Haynesworth???

There are talks about Albert Haynesworth test the FA market this off season he has had on-field & off-field the problem but he is a pro bowl Defensive lineman & makes a difference when he not in the lineup. Risk or Reward? If he does test the market would you pick him as a GM share your thoughts?

I know of the on-field problem that got him suspended, as for off-field incidents I thought he was a straight up kind of person.

I've wondered this myself. And I think I lean toward no. This isn't some rookie making mistakes here. He's been in the league several years now and has a history of 'issues' I'd rather focusing on developing Golston and Montgomery and if we're going to go after a DT, let's go after someone like Tommie Harris (if available)

I'm sorry the assault charges where dropped.

I would leave it up to Gibbs. If he interviewed Haynesworth and thought he had enough good character enough heart and was confident that he wouldn’t quit on us and keep fighting his guts out then why not take a chance.

Also if we could sign him for the Vet minimum I would take the chance.;)

I'd say yes, because if you don't take a chance on someone with some issues, you don't find amazing talent. If you never take a chance, you don't find great players Sean Taylor. Someone like Pacman needs never be touched, but I don't think Haynesworth is someone to be untouchable due to off the field issues.

It doesn't matter anyway, we won't have a whole lot of room to sign someone of his caliber.

I thought his issue was on-field (ripping Andre Gurode's helmet and stomping on his face) I don't recall any off-filed issues. Before the assault on Gurode I thought he had a good reputation.

You've always got to be wary of the player who underperforms for the bulk of his career and then becomes a dominant force in his walk year.

Even without that, Haynesworth will command way too much money and I don't see him getting out of Tennessee, even if that means a franchise tag, followed by acrimony, but eventually a deal getting done. Plus the Skins have too many other needs to throw that many dollars at a position where they do not have a glaring need. If you want to throw a ton of money at a guy then go throw dollars at Jared Allen (another guy who won't end up leaving his current team).

I was just assuming because of the other comments...I only actually know of 1 issue and that was stepping on a cowboys head. (not sure there is anything wrong with that!) :D
I try not to follow people's lives outside of football, cause quite frankly, I don't care. There is nothing I can do about it but get annoyed, so I only watch them on the field. With the expection of BIG issues like Vick and Pacman, I stay away from off the field issues.

I say go for it if Tommy Harris is unavailable.

i don't think he'll be a great value (he might get inflated like dockery on a new deal), but he's been a dominant player this year, and the titan's D sucks without him.

Re: Risk or Reward Albert Haynesworth???

I think his performance this year has proved his value as a player and he will help whichever team he ends up with. But he is probably going to command something in the Dwight Freeney range and we can't and shouldn't try to afford that. Going into the second year of the new agreement I think the contracts should be ridiculous this year as well.

We signed Dana Stubblefield 10 years back after he was the NFL Defensive MVP with 15 sacks as a DT. He did squadoosh as a Redskin.

Re: Risk or Reward Albert Haynesworth???

Haynesworth is very tempting, but I think it would be best to continue to develop Montgomery, Golston, and not to forget we still have Griffin who I think can still be effective for a couple more seasons.
