Hiding plays from Dallas?

Merry Christmas to all, and to all, a good night.

Secondly, this is certainly not reflective of any insider knowledge, but I've been thinking about the upcoming matchup with Big D, and have been wondering the following:

Does our offense hold back on some of the more complex formations and plays in this regular season game? We need to win, without question. But, when considering Dallas would be our 2nd-round playoff opponent, do we completely eliminate the Portis-as-QB or Randle El WR reverse specialty plays? I feel there will be a little chess being waged between our coaching staff and theirs regarding the play-calling. We may benefit from not using the full complement of Saunders' playbook in this game, so that we will be able to possibly take Dallas by surprise in the playoff game.

Is this stupid?

Its not a stupid way of thinking. However in the NFL every game is played one week at at time. Remember this is a playoff game for us THIS WEEK so the team will gameplan as if it were a divisional playoff or nfc championship or even **"the big game"

** Nfl restrictions forbid the use of the term Super Bowl in any form of advertisement**

well, it's a 700 page play book...I'm sure we can dig deep for more than 1 game.

Unfortunately the Redskins don't have the luxury to hold anything back in this game. It will be a tough game whether they rest key players or not. It's win or watch the playoffs on TV. I think they need to go out and do everything it takes to win, and worry about Dallas in the playoffs when they play Dallas in the playoffs.

according to this:

dallas would not be our 2nd round opponent if we got there, it would be the packers.

NFL playoffs are not a bracket. Dallas, as the #1 seed, plays the lowest seed still in the playoffs. The Bucs (#4) or Giants (#5) would play Dallas if Seattle (#3) wins.

If we start thinking two weeks down the road, we're not going to be playing two weeks down the road.

We need to run the plays that allow us to beat Dallas on 12/30 and worry about the rest later.

if we don't make it to the post season, holding back would seem kinda stupid :/

sure about that? I was wondering the same thing, is it by seed throughout the playoffs or just by seed to start the playoffs?

Dallas is the #1 seed. They will automatically get the lowest seed for their Divisional round game. If Washington gets in, Washington will always be the lowest seed throughout the playoffs and have to face Dallas in round 2. The Packers will get the better of the remaining teams, either Tampa or the Giants or Seattle. If the Giants win and the Seahawks win, then Dallas gets the Giants.

Well if the Packers would get the Seahawks the we lost to them and that changes everything.

The Skins will not try anything fancy in this game.

However, if the Skins get deep into the playoffs and have a lead, they may try some trickery.

Remember,Gibbs 1 always had plays that had never been run specifically for the playoffs.
