Can Carroll do it

I really dont think Greg Williams will be the next head coach. Snyder has a past for going to that high profile coach i.e. Spurrier and Gibbs. So if he gives the control that Carroll wants(which he probably would) can we win with him and how quick? If this is a retread thread my bad but didn't see this.

I don't see that happening. I really doubt Carroll will coach anywhere in the NFL next season.

I'll be coach before Pete 'West Coast Spurrier' Carroll.

Well here's the thing with the Reggie Bush investigation going on S.C. can lose some scholarships and bowl games. If their was ever a time to start from scratch now is the time.We have the money and the talent. Its the perfect situation if he wanted to come out and make a nfl statement

Something makes me wonder why this guy gets mentioned every year yet still doesn't have an NFL job. Either he doesn't really really want one, like Spurrier(how'd that "not wanting it" thing work out?) or NFL execs aren't so sure he is all that.

I think Carroll will be in the NFL next year but not I hope with the Skins. I will also predict he will do poorly in at least the first two years wherever he goes.

Don't want Carroll. Keep him on the left coast.

i wonder why his name keeps getting mentioned? most of the coaches that come from the college ranks are always thought to be highly innovative. either offensively or defensively. which is Carroll? i think he is just a very good recruiter. i personally don't want him here

a good recruiter as well as good on defense as a D cord.

Carroll is a god out there. If I were him I would stay put, compete for a national championship every year, and be perfectly content with the legend like legacy he's building on in college.

Re: Can Carroll do it

I mean its a fair point that Carroll might want to leave USC b4 the bush situation blows up in his face, but I honestly dont think the repercussions will be that bad. Certainly nothing more than one horrible year of recruiting which will still leave USC light years in front of the rest of the horrible PAC-10.

However for arguments sake, if he did want to make the leap back to the NFL, which coaching situation would be best for him? He would need to go into a situation that would allow him to turn around the team in 2 maybe 3 years, otherwise the media scrutiny would be too much. Atlanta doesn't fit this bill, because they are too far from being a good team. Blank is a patient owner and they need a coach for the long haul. Baltimore could be a possible fit because they have a good nucleus on the Defensive side as well as something to work with on Offense. Carroll would need a good supporting cast. The only fit i can see for Carrol (THOUGH I AM NOT ADVOCATING THIS) is the Redskins. We have a fast college style defense that employs a bend but don't break philosophy. We have an offense with a lot of potential including a young fresh out of college QB. Also we have the benefit of an offensive coordinator with a lot of pro experience that Carroll could defer to. As far as the players, Carroll is what Spurrier wasn't. He is a players coach that demands hard work. He will work the guys but will do so by reassuring them that it is for their own good. He will get guys to buy into his system unlike Spurrier. I think Carroll's stint at USC has really matured him as a coach and he would have learned from his mistakes in the NFL the first time around. Just some food for thought, but i don't want to see this guy coaching the skins (I still like Grilliams).

Gregg Williams is the best fit by far...yes, he struggled with the Bills....but that is massive motivation to get that monkey off his back.

I dont want a college coach, it just doesn't work
