Happy 25th Anniversary SuperBowl XVII

25 years ago today was one of the biggest days of John Riggins' career. Happy 25th anniversary 1982-83 Redskins!

Ah, I remember it like it was yesterday.
Just kidding, I wasn't even 3 months old and I was probably asleep the entire time but I've seen the clip of Riggo so many times that I really do feel like I saw it live.
How many other teams are lucky enough to have such an iconic moment?

Don't feel bad. I hadn't even been conceived. ;)

I do remember it like it was yesterday. My Dad was at the game!!! (Company trip prize) I was home watching it on TV. I was 11 and all I remember was being so nervous! I jumped up and down when Riggins ran over that Dolphin and started to build up speed for the endzone. He was faster than he looked in those days!!!

LOL

When this game took place, I was four. When Riggins broke it loose on 4th and one, my dad jumped out of his chair, screaming YEAAAHHHH! at the absolute top of his lungs. He couldn't stop jumping up and down. It was so loud that it scared the crap out of me (I think I was probably playing with toys at the time) and I started crying. Then I realized he was freaking out because of happiness, and I joined in. I think that moment, while scary as all get out, was the moment I became interested in the Skins.

I guess you could say I've been a Redskin fan for 25 years today. Awesome.

Little do people remember it was 4th and 1. If Don McNeal makes that tackle things most certainly would of turned out different. Either way 70 Chip worked and Riggo powered that diesel about 40 yards to the endzone!

Don't forget Theismann's tip in the end zone. Huge play!

And not to be a downer, but it's really tragic what became of David Woodley.

I remember it like it was yesterday! I WAS THERE! It was the single greatest moment for me as a Redskin fan. 25 years ago I was 12, wow!

Thanks for the memories!

Wow man I just read his Wiki page and I had no idea:
After football, Woodley increasingly drank, causing several health problems. Woodley underwent a liver transplant in Shreveport in 1992. Woodley died from complications due to kidney and liver failure on May 4, 2003.
Thats crazy stuff. Its weird how you never hear about this kind of stuff.

Greatest single moment in Redskins history. I have the poster on my wall and remember watching with my Dad.

What a great day. I was a senior in college. We had a big keg party. I got drunk. I got laid. The Skins won their first Super Bowl.

I often wondered if my day was similar to Riggo's.

I also have a poster commemorating the 4th and 1 run to glory. I had the Diesel autograph it last year.
