NEWS! Fassel Is Considered To Be Front-Runner
Fassel Is Considered To Be Front-Runner
The Washington Redskins' search for a head coach continued into the weekend with former New York Giants coach Jim Fassel considered to be the front-runner among the known candidates for the job, league sources said, but the other candidates -- Steve Mariucci and Ron Meeks -- still are believed to be under consideration to replace Joe Gibbs. -Washington Post washingtonpost.com - nation, world, technology and Washington area news and headlines |
Re: NEWS! Fassel Is Considered To Be Front-Runner
Washtimes confirms this. The times article includes a funny side note about the dissatisfaction from his near hire two weeks ago, and firejimfassel.com was created.
Hearing that it is Fassel is not new news, however. All of us informed fans here knew the writing on the FO wall at Redskins park. Unfortunately, there are no other HOF Coaching candidates out there to pick from, and the followup to our former HOF Coach Gibbs will be mightily difficult. |
Re: NEWS! Fassel Is Considered To Be Front-Runner
I'm not sure how this is really "NEWS!" Hasn't Fassel been considered to be the front runner all along?

Re: NEWS! Fassel Is Considered To Be Front-Runner
The Redskins legacy is as one of the prime teams in NFL history. Now we are the verge of becoming in the DC Met area what the Jets are in NY; the JV. That's what happens when you hire as your head coach the guy that the team who used to be the area JV (Ravens) fired as their coordinator. How can the Skins be the prime when their leader is the Ravens reject? If you have friends who are Jets fans in NY, ask them how they feel now that the Giants are even more the kings. That's how Skins fans will feel with Fassel in charge!

Note to Fassel, Kerry Collins sucked. He always sucked. Why? We don't want you!
Lets give credit where credit is due. After the Superbowl year...it was a downhill slide to an embarrassing 4-12 season.
You mean that after a super bowl appearance, a team is likely to regress? Really? Tell me more.

LOL, funny. However, basically what he was saying is that once they lost Fox, Fassel went downhill. I also tend to agree. Fassel seemed more a product of his other coaches than he was a leader. |
