All I know is, if Laveranues doesn't get his widescreen TV this time, he doesn't deserve it. |

Re: Coles Says Jets Lied to Him
The guy is probably the most over payed receiver in the league and he's complaining?
The way it worked out when we traded him didn't he end up getting a huge windfall of bonus money too? "I ran clear out routes, I deserve TO money." Give me a break. |
Re: Coles Says Jets Lied to Him
I don't think he's asking for TO money, I think he's asking for a long term deal so he can know if he's gonna finish his career there, rather then head into another season worrying about his long term security. And if his numbers are down because he was an unselfish player and tried to help the team out, then it's wrong for them to use that as an excuse.

Re: Coles Says Jets Lied to Him
a 30 year old with 11mill in guaranteed money over the next two years and he's still complaining....
sorry, but after that he'll be old, and he's already an injury problem (toe never healed right, so he's slowed down, and multiple concussions). quit being a twirp. you're not going to be in the league in 4 years, so take what you got and deal with it. if the length is the issue, have the jets tack on 20 years at vet min for giggles and call it a day. |
Re: Coles Says Jets Lied to Him
I like Coles, but we don't need him.

Re: Coles Says Jets Lied to Him
Coles got a $13 million bonus in 2003, a $5 million bonus in 2005 and total base salaries of more than $9 million over the last five years, meaning he's averaged about $5.5 million a year since the expiration of his rookie contract while averaging about 950 receiving yards a season.
I think that bears repeating, because it sounds relevant to this discussion. Coles got a $13 million bonus in 2003, a $5 million bonus in 2005 and total base salaries of more than $9 million over the last five years, meaning he's averaged about $5.5 million a year since the expiration of his rookie contract while averaging about 950 receiving yards a season. He's has $18 million in bonuses since 2003. He's made in excess of $27 million over the last five years and $11 million more is guaranteed for the next two. If he plays this deal out, he'll likely either be enjoying the fruits of a new CBA, or signing a deal during an uncapped year. Why the complaints? |

Re: Coles Says Jets Lied to Him
Poor Coles. I liked him as a Redskin. I think he needed a good Doc. to fix his toe and stay off of it. In any event, didn't he leave the team bad mouthing the owner and organization? Didn't he say something along the lines of " I should never have left the Jets" also. Have fun Coles enjoy the team you should have never left.
