The Scrap Heap
thought we should have one thread to debate the pros and cons of all the various players who will be released from their current teams over the coming weeks and months and whether or not the redskins should consider signing them.
ty law has been released by the chiefs and i think he would be a good upgrade over david macklin www.kansascity.com | 02/27/2008 | Chiefs to release Law, Bell, Reed, Dunn |
Re: The Scrap Heap
This will be an interesting thread
Ty Law is likely going to have to move to FS. His days as a top flight corner as done; and as a nickel are dwindling. If it was 2001 I'd be all over it. Now? I'd pass |

His best years are behind him and I think the last time I saw him do anything of note was Indy vs KC in the playoffs a few years back. |

You want scrap heap? I'll give you scrap heap... Darwin Walker is available. Please don't let him come here. Fred Miller is available. Leads the league in false starts. Javon Kearse is likely to be available. Can't play anymore Byron Leftwich and Trent Green are avaialble. Caveat Emptor!!! |
Re: The Scrap Heap
i agree with what's been said so far. but i'm interested in upgrading at dime back. macklin did virtually nothing for us this year. i'm sure we could nab law for a reasonable 1 year and get some decent production out of him.

I have no clue wether he can still play at all, I just know that he terrorized us for long enough and I'm glad to see him go. Well, ya know, we could sign him for the....nevermind. It's not even worth saying at this point. |

Maybe. All I know is that we better get someone and cut that bum Leigh Torrence. That kid just flat out CANT PLAY! Everytime I see him on the field he's either out of position as hell or he's flailing around like a fish out of water. Anybody but Torrence. Anybody. And if Torrence saw the field before Macklin, well, that tells you a little about how much he has left. |
Re: The Scrap Heap
I wouldn't mind Ty Law. Maybe he could get a second wind with us.

Plus he is from DC, and that might rejuvenate his career. |
Re: The Scrap Heap
no thanks to all the above....scrap heapit sure is...no thanks...

Re: The Scrap Heap
i love the title. and no to Law. we already have enough corners that cant cover

agreed! i, for one, am highly skeptical of todd collins' value as our primary backup now that we are no longer using al saunders' system. i think leftwich would be great in that role. especially now that he's been cut by 2 teams, i imagine his contract negotiating leverage is about nil. |

back-up center is one of our most pressing needs, IMO. i'd like us to address that need in the draft but i think we'd do well to add a veteran, like hartwig, as well. |
Re: The Scrap Heap
As a depth signing, I was thinking the same thing myself today.

If there is someone released form another team that they feel can help us get better, look for consideration to be given. I'm sure there will be some players that get a look-see. Not sure Ty Law has a great deal left for what he would want to play for. |
