espn on the clock, wed.@6
FYI, just saw that espn will feature the skins tomorrow night, wednesday, at 6 on sportscenter in the "on the clock" draft feature.
I used to think kiper was a tool but he's grown on me & I think he's pretty objective about each team. It's pretty slow now so any skins talk will be good to hear. |
Re: espn on the clock, wed.@6
I don't know what he's been saying lately. Last I heard though, Kiper had the Redskins taking Talib in the first round.

Please stay away from Talib. I know I'm not in the draft a corner with the first round pick boat, but still, if we must draft a corner then please stay away from Talib. As of today I have been pushing for the Redskins to draft Jenkins who is rated by some as the 2nd best corner in the draft. Plus he has experience at safety, and with the depth we have at corner we will be able to also have a backup FS that will be able to, god forbid, fill in for Landry, or allow Landry to move back to SS should anything happen to my BOY, Doughty. Also when Springs leaves in the next two years or so we'll still have 3 good corners on the roster. Talib is to much of a boom or bust type guy, and personally I don't feel comfortable with a rookie corner that takes as many chances as Talib. Remember, South Florida is close to Miami :D |
Re: espn on the clock, wed.@6
We may be able to get Reggie Smith from Oklahoma in the 2nd round. Some things would have to fall in place for us but it could conceivably happen. Smith has college experience and success at both S and CB.
So as of March 25 I'll say: 1. DE Phillip Merling 2. DB Reggie Smith 3. OG Roy Scheuning (or Rachal if he falls there) 3. WR Paul Hubbard (let's see if we even get this pick) 5. DT Marcus Harrison Rest TBD |

Wow, check this out. Either our fan base is stupid, or we have a bunch of Cowboy fans voting for our pick on the ESPN Fan Mock draft. Also worth noting is the Ravens taking Brian Brohm at 8, the Bears taking Henne at 14
Mario Maningham 43.7% Kenny Phillips 22.3% Derrick Harvey 15.6% Chris Williams 10.6% LEDONIS MCKELVIN (The highest rated corner in the draft and currently a projected top 10 pick) 8% |

Carolina apparently loves him and they pick 13. If Leodis McKelvin is there I'd love to get him. McKelvin, Jenkins, Rodgers-Cromartie, or Talib would all make me happy. I voted for McKelvin based on the fact that most mock drafts I've seen have him going right around top 10... |
Re: espn on the clock, wed.@6
Stay away from Merling(recently underwent hernia surgery), Campbell(bad combine and work ethic), Talib(too raw and got cooked by Jordy Nelson several times), and Manningham (5'11 - we all know we need bigger receivers).
Harvey(hometown product - eleanor roosevelt HS), Cromartie, Jenkins, and McKelvin would be nice to have in the first. If they arent there then God help us. I see our FO doing some dumb ish if that is the case. |
Re: espn on the clock, wed.@6
Harvey would be a very solid pickup. Something about him I just don't like though. Can't figure it out.

Re: espn on the clock, wed.@6
we need to be aggressive and make some trades happen. Trade up and get into the top 10!

I know what you mean. I don't trust players from UF not named Tebow :D |

Kentwan Balmer is still a strong possibility. Though I think they'd rather pick up someone like Trevor Laws in round 2

I'm starting to sense a Trevor Laws man crush sweeping across the forum. Personally I like Laws as well and if the Redskins choose to adress the 3 technique in round 2 then it's obvious that Laws will probably be the guy, but the problem is theres a huge dropoff in talent after rounds 1 and 2 at CB and WR, which a lot of people have pointed out as being high priority positions in the eyes of the coaches and the front office this offseason. Plus the need for a versitle lineman to possibly develop as a starter in round 3 makes offensive line a virtual lock for a pick in one of the first 3 rounds. McGlynn seems like the logical choice given that he's solid prospect and posseses the ability to play all 5 spots on the offensive line. However Felton reminds me a lot of Dockery, from his pre draft grades, his size, all the way to his style of play and I can't help but think the front office has already noticed this. On top of that the draft is very deep at defensive line, especially when compared to last years class. If I had to guess I'd say that there will be a handful of starting defensive lineman that will emerge from day 2 picks this time around. |
