If you're talking about Manningham the answer is no. He's list at 6'0 1/4 inch. Yes I know he's still small but at the same time he's the best playmaker from that group and it's possible that his ability might make the front office look past the fact that the he's not a "big" guy. However if Vinny's serious aboth the 2nd teir of Recievers then the canidates are Manningham, Nelson, Donnie Avery, Earl Bennett, Jerome Simpson (This is a guy I would look at very carefully, if the Skins pass on Jordy and Manningham then this guy might be the next best thing), and Harry Douglas
Jerome Simpson will be a great red zone target in the NFL, didn't he have like the second biggest hands in the Senior Bowl?

here is a site that talks about it:

I don't know about the validity since it's sweed himself saying it...but he is saying it's 100% healed, it's just the range of motion he will need to work on, and we don't start playing football until august so he'll have plenty of time.

Thanks for the link, I never knew that he weighed 215, I thought he was like 190, nice to know he has some bulk, and can hopefully not shy away from contact.

When I watch his highlights, I watch his footwork and his ability to go after the ball...he looks very polished. Route running is about the only thing we should have a concern about and that will easily come with time. He uses his body very well.

No we don't need a 'big' target, we need a good receiver

I don't know. I think that scouts consider the guys you listed might be the top of third tier. I guess that guys that are predicted to fall in the late third through the fourth round are consdered third tier guys and right now I think the Redskins want to be safe and not overpay or overdraft the first tier (Sweed, Thomas, Kelly) but at the same time not let the guys from the second teir pass them by (Manningham, Nelson, Avery). Yet it's still very possible that Hubbard and Franklin could get drafted, given they have decent college numbers and measureables that rival that of DJ Hacket.

However given the priority placed by the front office at wide reciever I doubt that they don't end up with at least one guy from the top of the second tier.

I think the answer to your question of "could the Skin's draft these guys" is what tier of tight ends was Chris Cooley in. If cooley was a third tier guy then it's very possible that the Skin's could draft one of the two guys you listed.

Jerome Simpson would be a great addition to our team, he has reliable hands, a good red zone target, and rarely drops a pass.
Jerome Simpson would be a great addition to our team, he has reliable hands, a good red zone target, and rarely drops a pass.
I'm starting to think that Skin's also might be taking a long hard look at the other Caldwell. The guy has the combination of size and speed that the Skins are looking for as well as the intangibles that a guy like Gibb's would be proud of.

Initially I was hoping that the team wasn't going to look at him since he never had a 1,000 yards recieving in college but in light of his percieved attributes and football IQ I'm hoping that the team gives him a long hard look. Now that I think about, maybe Vinny was right about the second tier of Recievers. They are a pretty good groupe. Only guy I don't really understand is Early Douchet. I mean seriously, why do scouts go crazy over LSU's slot recievers?

NFL Events: Combine Player Profiles - Andre Caldwell

So with that said the second tier guys that will probably get the longest and hardest look will be Mario Manningham, Andre Caldwell, Jerome Simpson, and Jordy Nelson. Come draft day one of those four will probably be a Redskin. At this point my moneys on Jordy Nelson or Jerome Simpson

LMAO!!! I actually liked that movie.

Question about Albert: why has this kid's stock risen faster than Enron in the 90's. Originally i heard he would be lucky to go in the 1st round (I swear I even read that from Kiper himself). Then it looked like he would be a good pick at 21. Now we're unlikely to get him! What gives? Did the dude have a break-out combine or did o-line suddenly become a major priority out there?

My guess is that teams are looking at it in a way where at worst they get a guy who ends up being a second tier Guard (in the leauge not the draft class). However whats responsible for his recent Enron/Worldcom/Martha Stewart like rise is his potential to become a franchise LT. To me thats the only explanation. In short high floor and a high ceiling may be responsible for his stock increase. That or he developed a technique where he can block defensive players just by looking at them.

If we pick Early Doucet any earlier than the third round it would be way too high for him, he ran like a 4.7 at pro day, some TE's run better than that, I know he has reliable hands but he has no speed.

Reasonable explanation, particularly that staring-the-defense-down-trick.:silly: Franchise LT potential is definitely worth 21st over all and probably worth even more, so I see more of what's goin on here. If he falls to us we should definitely take him then, right? I mean, do ya really need to figure out how a guy w/ that kind of potential will develop in terms of position. He's either going to be a badass guard or a dominant tackle.

the "other" caldwell is a good player, and at 53, he'd be good value... though not if trevor laws is still on the board ;).
