I like the sound of Merling, I hope he is there for us. He sounds like a pretty tough mofo and a nice compliment to our line. Off topic, but what I really like about this update from JLC is JC's visible commitment to the team, flying out to test out the WR prospects. He has wonderful character and is really doing everything he can to be the best he can and help out. I am really excited about him this year working with Zorn, I feel a breakout year for him and he most definitely deserves it!
Remember Jason Campbell flew out to LSU to throw to Dwayne Bowe last year
I think it will be interesting if Merling and Malcolm Kelly are both available at #21. What to do then?
Here's another, very possible scenario, what do you do:

A) 1st round-Limas Sweed, 2nd round-Calais Campbell

B) 1st round-Phillip Merling, 2nd round-Jordy Nelson (will probably need to trade our 2nd and 3rd to move up to the top of the 2nd round for this)

Definitely B, without the move up for Jordy. If Jordy isn't there take the best available CB, Godfrey from Iowa.

So you're saying you would only do B if we didn't have to trade up for JN?

i dont like the notion of trading our second round pick for mid round picks...Id much much rather trade mid rounds with our second to move up slightly in the second to ensure we get the guy we want

Sort of like we did for McIntosh
