Glad CP is optimistic...it's a good sign.

I thought to "dish" on someone was to let them have it.

I'm glad to hear CP say that Jay-Z, I mean J.Z. "is clearly in charge."
After his first few press conferences this winter I had the feeling that he'd be a little to relaxed in his approach and that the team could easily start feeling like they were at a country club or something (very Ole Ball Coach-esque).
BUT, based on his more recent dealings with the press throughout the OTAs and mini-camps I feel much better about the job that Zorn is capable of doing. Going by the limited exposure we get to him through the videos released by the team he seems to have a good grasp on that fine line between let the players be themselves while still being firmly in control of everything.

Granted, it's only June, but I feel like Zorn could be the real deal. (I really hope this doesn't come back to haunt me, like the time I told anyone who would listen that Patrick Ramsey was Brett Favre v2.0)

Re: Clinton Portis dishes on Jim Zorn, Wise on Portis

Didn't want to start a new thread, but after reading Wise's article on Portis I think we are going to see a more explosive, dynamic Portis than we've ever seen in DC. He was a little miscast as a power back, but he definitely proved he was as tough as they come. I have a feeling Jay Z and company are going to unleash Portis like never before. While a lot of Denver backs have success, Portis took it to Terrell Davis levels. I see him having a chip on his shoulder this year, if the passing game clicks we could see something special this year. I'm buying a Portis premier jersey before the fall.

Zorn's interviews this week have me piqued. I too was worried he was a little star-eyed and not totally ready to be in charge but he has come accross very strongly and seems to exude Head Coachness. I was a little surpirsed. Totally opposite of the Ol' Ballcoach and much more similar to the way Gibbs came accross. Of course Zorn actually speaks more freely than Gibss ever did. I have been pretty happy.

Agreed. Wise's column clearly showed that CP is miffed about some of the attention other backs in the league got, especially given that, as CP (rightfully) sees it, they didn't work half as hard as he did. He also revealed that he wasn't happy with the role he was asked to play in the Gibbs scheme, but, as the column makes clear, he still gave 100% for that role. So, yes, I think he's got a big chip on his shoulder and is as anxious to get on the field (or at least into a regular season game) as anyone in the league.
