Springs is aboard
CSB sportsline has it posted......
|
Not as good as Bailey, but a good CB none the less, and should do a great job especially with a better dline.
|
Excellent. I think a gaping hole left by Champ has been filled competently.
|
I'd wish we had gone after winfield instead(better against the run) but Springs, if healthy, will fill in nicely in the void left by bailey.
|
I hope he has a good year...'cause you know he's gonna be mercilessly compared to Champ Bailey all season.

i think with an increased pass rush, springs won't have to be as good as champ in order for the defense to get better
|
Just hope he stays healthy.

Yeah, I think health is really the key. (and with Griffen too. I heard (sports center) that he has had an ankle problem).
But if Springs plays to potential, he'll give us just what we need. Yes, he's not going to be champ, but he'll be quality. Smoot and Springs is a nice pair of CBs! If we can get a pass rush, things will be nice on D. |
I doubt he will be compared to Bailey the entire season. Everyone knows that Shawn Springs is a decent CB, but hes not the stud Bailey is. Although we may see a few more balls caught by the other teams #1 Wide Out next season.

With Springs and a safety doubling the number 1 Im hoping Lavarr will be in the QB's face before he has the chance to look at the number 2.

Springs-big mistake
As a longtime Seattle resident, let me fill you all in what you're going to get with Shawn Springs. First, he'll be hurt by the 4th exhibition game, if not the second or third. He'll give a long interview with a local columnist about how this was his year and it's so heartbreaking that he's hurt. He'll vow to still come back and have a great year but he won't-he'll most likely be the third cornerback for most of the season. Springs loves to play the part of the big star but when he does play, you'll see a ton of big completions with him showing up a couple seconds late time and time again. Here's another couple things to know about him. He was beaten by Terrell Owens on the infamous sharpie play in 02. Owens signed the pen in front of Springs. Did he blow a gasket? No-they have the same agent and he patted him on the butt. Also, when Emmitt Smith broke the all-time rushing record in Dallas, Springs went over and patted him too-he's not life or death about winning by any means. This guy thinks he's a star but he's not. He'll be always hurt and have a million excuses. This was a huge blunder by the Skins-10 million bonus-what a waste of money.

First, last year he broke a sholder blade. Not exactly a tweaked hammy. Here's his games played/started:
1977 SEA 10 10 1998 SEA 16 16 1999 SEA 16 16 2000 SEA 16 16 2001 SEA 8 7 2002 SEA 15 15 2003 SEA 12 8 This doesn't look too bad to me. Only missed serious time in two years. Second, paying a legend like Emmitt a little respect after a huge accomplishment is OK with me. Would you rather have Springs trip him walking off the field? Third, he was smart enough not to get a personal foul after the sharpie incident. That's OK with me too. We had too many stupid penalties last year. Fourth, the other available, young, "shut down" free agent corner (Winfield) backed out of his deal with the Jets because the Vikes came up with more money. Would you rather have us in that position? |
