That's awful. Just last week I was going to post a Get Well Bernie Mac thread because some paper said he was near death due to pneumonia. But then reports came out that he would be released soon from the hospital and reports of his demise were greatly exaggerated. Guess they weren't

Wow - I had no idea. He was one of the greatest, yet least appreciated, comedic actors of his generation. RIP, Bernie.

Just watched Bad Santa the other day. I too had heard the reports (I thought erroneous) that he was going. Shocked and saddened to hear this.

I thought he had been admitted to the hospital last week, but apparently he had been hospitalized nearly a month but his family and publicist kept it a secret (which of course is entirely their right)

I didn't even realize he was that old (not that 50 was old, but I thought he was 43-45ish). Waaaay too young! That's a shame.
