Kelly / Thomas -- Preseason time:
I'll admit I haven't been paying much attention to the small injuries in training camp. Just curious if there has been anything about when / if these two guys will get on the field.

From what I understand Thomas is back in practice after taking two weeks off with a Hamstring injury. Kelly was doing alright but he recently got a knee scope after pulling his own hamstring so he's out for a couple more weeks. Apparently the knee scope and the hamstring pull are only marginally related. |
Re: Kelly / Thomas -- Preseason time:
Nope. Get use to Toler, McMullen, Mann,a nd Thrash

Re: Kelly / Thomas -- Preseason time:
i think the guys will make the team. just got unlucky with the injuries

Re: Kelly / Thomas -- Preseason time:
In the pregame show on ESPN 980 yesterday, Vinny Cerrato says they should be able to play by the 4th preseason game against Carolina, on 8/23.
The wideout spot is tough because I still think they're only keeping five WRs on the 53-man roster. I don't see James Thrash getting cut, and despite missing all this playing time, Kelly and Thomas are virtually guaranteed a spot because of their draft status. Sucks for guys like Billy McMullen who are giving it their all, but still probably won't make the team because there's just not enough room for six wideouts. McMullen is basically auditioning for other teams right now. As for Anthony Mix, I still don't see why so many people are crazy about him. Word is that he's great on special teams, though I haven't seen anything to rave about there; and he's been non-existant as a pass catcher. |
Re: Kelly / Thomas -- Preseason time:
I'm alright with McMullen. He's been beast with first, second and third string.

Re: Kelly / Thomas -- Preseason time:
Why not IR one of these guys for the year? I think Moss, McMullen, ARE and Thrash can be more than solid for us and with all the time the rookies are missing could either of them contribute this year anyway?

Re: Kelly / Thomas -- Preseason time:
They need a legit injury to go on IR

Re: Kelly / Thomas -- Preseason time:
I think there's a chance they'll keep 6 WRs. I'd love to see them find a way to keep McMullen.

If pressed to make a choice....who would you rather keep... McMullen or Mason McMullen or EJames McMullen or CWilson I really think we keep 3 of the 4 above To me, it is McMullen vs CWilson...those guys have to fight it out |

Devin Thomas was fully suited and participating in warm-ups last night, but obviously they held him out of the game. |
Re: Kelly / Thomas -- Preseason time:
(as I have stated before, I'm not much on preseason, and I won't watch with the exception of an occasional glance)
That being said, what's going on with Anthony Mix? |

That being said, what's going on with Anthony Mix?[/QUOTE] Nothing, he has done nothing in 2 games...in fact another big body, McMullen had a solid game last night and is now clearly in front of mix in the 6th WR slot. Mix aint gunna make this team. Everyone was high on him in the spring prior to the draft because he was big..well....he is still big, but he is still not catching passes. In any case, whoever gets the 6th WR slot, if there is one at all, will not be seeing any action anyways due to the fact we have 3 solid pass receiving TE's. |
