Google Launches New Browser
Google Chrome
Anyone plan on trying it out? |
Re: Google Launches New Browser
looks awesome... i doubt i can use my firefox extensions though... some of which do the same things, but platypus and greasemonkey will be dead :/.

Re: Google Launches New Browser
It's cool but kinda memory hog. They built Google Gears into the browser which should make things interesting.

Re: Google Launches New Browser
I'm skipping this one for now...they already have a major security flaw, one that Apple patched with Safari 2 months ago (Chrome is built on Apple's WebKit engine). I may eventually try it out, but for now, I've got Firefox right where I want it, and I'm starting to rediscover Opera (used it a lot in college).

Re: Google Launches New Browser
I'm satisfied with Firefox, but I'll give it a try. Google always impresses me, so I like to check out everything they do.
Bohnzie, good to know about the security flaw... |
Re: Google Launches New Browser
Just be sure to read the fine print...
It's bad enough I have Gmail as my personal email...not sure I want Google knowing everything I'm surfing... |
Re: Google Launches New Browser
Google has retroactively rescinded that term. This guy also has a post about what Chrome sends back to the mothership.
The browser is pretty nice - seems faster than Firefox, and just feels less intrusive. The search memory feature is pretty awesome (it "remembers" how to invoke a website's own search page from the omnibar), although I'm sure it's just a matter of time until there is a FF plugin for it. |
Re: Google Launches New Browser
I just downloaded Chrome last night to check out, anyone use it on a regular basis? Pros/cons? It seems pretty fast.

Re: Google Launches New Browser
I have Chrome, but purely for testing purposes. I'm a Firefox junkie and can't let go, especially with all the extensions. But now that Chrome supports extensions, I may have to revisit.

Anyone plan on trying it out?
I downloaded Google Chrome a while back, it has some features I like but won't use it as my default. I still use IE and MSN-butterfly. Google Chrome just recently added the feature that allows downloads to Real Player, and because of it's speed I do use it at times. |
Re: Google Launches New Browser
What's with the Adobe Acrobat plug-in associated with the warpath website? The first time I tried Google Chrome, came to our website there was an Adobe plug -in requierement drop-down at the top of the browser, can anyone explain?

Re: Google Launches New Browser
No idea. Never seen that.

I was just wondering Matty because I use IE-8 and MSN the majority of the time and had never gotten that particular message before. For whatever reason I couldn't download the plug-in though not doing so had no affect on the sites operational function. After checking further I discovered Adobe Acrobat is not a free- plug-in. |
Re: Google Launches New Browser
Never heard of that issue, I just downloaded chrome last night and pulled up the site just fine. I use several browsers with the site and haven't had an issue.

Thanks Matty.....I'm going to contact Google asking them to simplify. It could be something associated with my particular set-up. |
