The Santana Moss Catch
Need Some Info On The Rule...i Know For One Thing About The Catch The Whistle Was Blown To Soon I Assume..but He Was Not Down By Contact When He Made The Catch If I Seen It Correctly..it Should Have Been A Td..madden And Them Didn't Cover It Enough..

Re: The Santana Moss Catch
Should have been a catch. He was hit, then gained possession, and was not touched. Inadvertant whistle killed the play.

Re: The Santana Moss Catch
Down or no, it was a HELL of a catch
|
Re: The Santana Moss Catch
Great play, but so unusual it threw everyone off, except Santana.
|
Re: The Santana Moss Catch
The play should not have been stopped. He was never touched after he gained possession
|
Re: The Santana Moss Catch
Heads up play by Santana. The officials screwed up.....again.
|
Re: The Santana Moss Catch
If the ball was still not in possession and still moving around and not touch the ground , The whistle should not have been blown. would have probably been a momentum changing play had the whistle not been blown...
Also the PI on Smoot was bogus.. should have been Offensive PI... he pushed Smoot down first.. |
Re: The Santana Moss Catch
how about the Moss lets give up on the play no catch,2 games in a row now he's given up on plays and cost us

Re: The Santana Moss Catch
David Tyree may have caught the ball with his helmet, but Santana caught the ball with his nuts. LOL. He still should have caught all those other balls he dropped though.

I think Santana's nuts will make the pro bowl this year. |
Santana 911
Ok, this is going to hurt my heart to say but I feel that I must speak my mind to my fellow fans. I have watched this team closely from opening day at Ashburn, to Buffalo, and the debauchle the was the last two pre-season games. Everytime the ball is passed from Jason Campbell to Santana Moss, something goes wrong. Under thrown, over thrown, Santana quits on the route, the ball is dropped, or he stops short of the sticks. His first pass to Santana in ANY GAME IS NEVER COMPLETE. I watch the throws to Cooley and Randle El, (when he actually has time to throw the ball) hit their target crisp and in space to make plays. There is a chemistry problem between those two guys. Brunell was the best thing that happened to Santana and might have been the reason he was sucessful in DC. I love the deep threat that he poses, but when he is on the field with only one other reciever he cuts out field in half because JC does not have the confidence in Santana to go that way with the ball. Watch the tapes this year and last. A bump off the line and a deep shadow eliminates Moss and we are left with Cooley double teamed and Randle El up against a corner who is bigger, faster, and younger than him.
With that said I make the statement. We need to trade Moss and get either another high draft pick or make another deal similar to the Jets/Coles trade. Drew Brees just throws the ball to Colston knowing he can out physical a guy to the sticks. The only things we have close to that reported to camp in no type of shape (with a bum knee) and backing up Todd Yoder? We need to deal with this issue before Santana and Antwan are 35, slower, and still 5'6" while we're still wondering why we can't pass the ball efectively |

Opinions differ on wether he was downed or not but the ref blew the play dead so.... |

wasn't he still trying to gain control of the ball while the defensive back was celebrating? |
Re: The Santana Moss Catch
Moss was obviously not down, but the whistle blew. It was the NEW Antonio Freeman play, but unfortunately the refs blew too early.
|
Re: The Santana Moss Catch
I'd bet 10 times out of 10 the ref will blow the whistle there. He got leveled as the ball arrived, and since he caught it between his legs, there was no way for the ref to assume he had just gained possession. The Freeman play was different, both players got tangled and fell to the ground. Moss was actually tackled, just before he had full possession.
