Good...and Getting Better
Take a look at our growth in three key areas-3rd down conversions, time of possession, and penalties-since week one. With the exception of a couple of hiccups, we have steadily improved in these categories. That's the sign that this team is not only good, but also only getting better.
Week 1: 3rd Down: 3/13 23%; Time of Possession: 24:17; Penalties: 7-35 Week 2: 3rd Down: 3/10 30%; Time of Possession: 34:14; Penalties: 4-26 Week 3: 3rd Down: 5/11 45%; Time of Possession: 33:05; Penalties: 7-67 Week 4: 3rd Down: 6/15 40%; Time of Possession: 38:09; Penalties: 5-30 Week 5: 3rd Down: 11/19 57%; Time of Possession: 34:45; Penalties: 3-24 |

We've only scratched the surface.

Re: Good...and Getting Better
Nice research Smootsmack. That's really encouraging and confirms my feelings about the team. I haven't felt this good about our team in a decade.

Re: Good...and Getting Better
It's great really. To think back to opening night, and see how far we've come since then is remarkable.

I Go Back To All The Two A Days Coach Zorn Held At Training Camp---this Is The Best Conditioned Team The Redskins Have Had
|
Re: Good...and Getting Better
Zorn's teachings are something that everyone should live by. Improve yourself everyday whether it's body, mind or spirit. Never be satisfied with yourself. Be humble.

Re: Good...and Getting Better
The last two weeks have really been impressive with the way we've flat out punched teams in the mouth. It's classic Redskins football.
|
Re: Good...and Getting Better
Week 2 time of possession was 34:14 and week 3 was 33:05
|
Re: Good...and Getting Better
I think it's good to see that we are improving. In the next couple of weeks we are not going to be the underdogs anymore and teams are really going to come after us. Plus we are going to be playing teams that are going to be desperate for a win, so it is good to see the team improve.

Re: Good...and Getting Better
I love this thread by the way. Great research. I find myself doing these types of things at four am. Anyway, we have come a long way. I was at Ashburn during training camp looking at a DISASTER of an offense and to see the players learn on the fly every Sunday is inspiring on and off the field. I'm am proud to be a fan, but now I'm proud to be a part of a team getting better as a franchise!!!!!
GO SKINS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! |
Re: Good...and Getting Better
I hope we can get more of the long ball(passes over 15 yards) going during the next 3 weeks against weaker opponents. Coach Zorn's system is proving to be a winner, but I must admit, I still love the long ball. It was the perfect game plan for Philly today.

Yeah I think there was a concern amongst a lot of people that the WCO was another word for "soft" but it's far from that |

I think a big part of it is Zorn being smart enough to adjust to personnel. This is team built to run the football, and he's sticking with that while mixing in his passing attack. A testament to the players and the coaches. Well done. |
