I wouldn't be surprised... though i'm not really worried (at all) at RB, we've got pathetic depth at CB right now... i don't think there's going to be a lot of good DEs, simply because if they were good, they're still employed (i know some teams' rejects would be upgrades here, but i don't expect we'll be seeing anyone with 6 sacks last year getting signed)... roster rejects are more for depth than starting jobs ;)

yeah i know. every DE we've had in recent years has been another team's castoff anyway. so frustrating.

was Bauman and Rudy Brown that bad to drop em and leave us this thin at DB?? we gonna find better?

there are a few 2nd stringers worth checking out at safety and CB... our D-line however doesn't really need any more 2nd stringers, as we've got about 7 of them now.

if we bring someone in, who do we cut? an H back maybe...

The funny thing is that I think we're alright at RB too but we need some depth at CB. Knock on wood, but if Springs or Smoot get hurt, we're in it deep!

Article says Bugel was in San Diego. I remember him being in ARizona and Oakland but not San Diego. When was he the coach there?

I have to admit I didn't realize he was out there either.

Do you not think it is odd that really good defensive players avoid Washington as much as possible. The only standout players on the D are players we have drafted Smoot Bailey Arrington and hopefully Taylor.

Some moderate players are attracted by the opening of the purse strings like Wilkinson and Stubblefield or one last shot at glory Smith or to try and revive a flagging carear such as Gardner and Russell.

Also no defensive players leave here and set the world alight really Barber and ND Kalu are the only players who come to mind in recent years who buck this trend...

The question is why? Ever since the White snub we have never had top players stop here.

It's all a matter of what you're willing to pay. Danny has coughed up much more cash on the offense, but that doesn't mean D players won't come here. I'm sure we could have outbid philly for Kearse, but why? Let's build with players like Washington and Taylor.

And remember these names: Stubblefield, Wilkinson, Dieon, Trotter? They were big names when we payed for them, and they SUCKED! Stubblefield had come off a NFL defensive player of the year, Trotter was a pro-bowler.

umm, marcus washington, mr. barrow, shawn springs are all top defensive players.
