I thought this streak ended in 2004? Apparently not.

It did, but the "rule" is now being refined in order to persist. Here's the most important part to take from the story:

"In 2004, the Redskins lost to the Packers 28-14, suggesting Bush should have lost to John Kerry. [B]Hirdt changed the way the rule is applied [/B]to have it refer to the previous winner of the popular vote, not the electoral vote . . .

No direct correlation, skins will win, and Obama will be president. If there ever was a streak, it ended last election. If our next election comes when were on bye week does an independent win?

1992: Opening day loss, Democrat win
1996: Opening day loss, Democrat win
2000: Openning day win, Republican win
2004: Opening day win, Republican win
2008: Opening day loss, ???

This model is flawed,
when the Skins earn enough points to win, O'bama will want to redistribute them to the Steelers who did not earn them, and thus......the win..........

There's no such thing as mixing politics and sports and trying to talk about it civilly, it's like trying to a-bomb someone nicely. It just doesn't happen.
