Tony Romo

Hey guys I know it's a redskins board and we love to trash talk the other teams player and everything but I read this report on Romo and I wanted to get away of football for a second and show you the human factor.

The other things that makes Romo truly great; this is the second story that has came out of romo this year and on both ocassions he did this things without reporting it to the media or anything it's just the way he is I'm sure there are more but those stories are the ones that the persons being help by him have reported.
A homeless man who goes by Doc was cashing in change at a Cinemark theater in Dallas when a guy walked up and offered to pay his way into the movie. Doc, who planned to spend his day passing out flyers for a few bucks, accepted a rain check before realizing that he recognized the generous gentleman.
"Was that Tony Romo?" Doc asked the kid behind the counter.
It sure was. Doc hustled across the street to the consignment store that paid him to occasionally pass out flyers and requested the day off. By the time he got back to the theater, "Role Model" had already started.
Romo, who confirmed the story but didn't want to elaborate, waved Doc over to sit by him and his buddy. Doc sheepishly mentioned that he hadn't showered in a few days.
"Don't worry about that," Romo said. "I'm used to locker rooms."

And so the $67 million quarterback and a man who doesn't have $6.70 to his name sat next to each other and shared laughs for 90 minutes or so.
For Romo, who made news by changing a couple's tire on the side of the road on the way home the night of the season opener, it was just another kind gesture to a random stranger. It meant the world to Doc.
"For me, it was a blessing," Doc said. "It came at just the right time. It gave me some encouragement and faith in mankind. I just wanted to say thank you."

Re: Tony Romo

Tony Romo sounds like he is a class act. Maybe he should rub up against Pacman and some of the other cowboy standouts so he could give them a little class.

Good for him. I don't think anyone on this site ever said he's a bad dude. But he's the playboy QB of our arch-rival. I'm glad he's a good guy. But whenever he's got that blue star on his head, I hate him.

These kind of stories always remind me of this Onion article:

Wow a story of a guy talking to another guy who he did not know. Thats so special and Romo is so special that I just don't know what to do. He probably called the press about both of those stories to boast his ego. I'm sure sports people do this all the time but its funny how his are the ones that get "called in by a stranger". Please.

Matty do we really have to let a thread like this stay up on the site. You close threads about dumb skins stuff and this is a dumb Romo homo thread. Don't just lock the thread put it locked somewhere else.

AKA the Cowboy's PR guy who will do anything to cover up the circus that Jerry Jones and that locker room have become.

Romo's not a complete douche bag. YAAAAAAYYYYY!!! Are you kidding me? I have friends who are pretty well off and do wonderful things for people but you don't see me starting threads about them. What is so special about an athlete with millions of dollars buying someone a movie ticket? I would think someone without much to give, but giving anyway would be a bigger story. I'm sure there are people on this board who have helped their fellow man. Isn't that what you're suppose to do?

On my way home from work Monday I gave a man a ride to a gas station and back because he ran out of gas on the freeway. But the stupid news refused to air my story. Guess I should have had my publicist report it.

Nice story, but like Matty says it's not an uncommon story. I think we can cut D'Boyz a little slack though. He's not like those weak Cowboys fans who only show up when it's convenient to them and run and hide when the Cowboys lose to the Redskins...Bunker Jane, I'm looking in your direction.

I remember last year this time + 7 days, it was Dallas Cowboy fans (not Giants, certainly not Philly) who were the FIRST to step on Warpath to offer their sympathies and condolences after the death of Sean Taylor. They posted his picture on their fan website. It's the class of this rivalry, so for that, I say let 'em post an article once in awhile about their team. Puh-leeze, we'd all be warm & fuzzy too if Chris Cooley helped an old lady cross the street. Fans get off on stuff like this.

Alright, kumbayah moment over...check out this archive. Hang on at least 'til 3 min, 40 secs. It's what I want for Romo (sorry old poor man at the movies), what I hope for our pass rush, how loud we fans need to be!)
