Draft Picture Update, Bengals Aftermath
So, we're not mathematically eliminated yet. Whatever. At least last week at this time, we could say that if we won out, we would likely make the playoffs. Now, that's not even true. We're done.
So, we'll probably be drafting somewhere in the middle of the round. Discuss potential first round draft picks here. |

Re: Draft Picture Update, Bengals Aftermath
I agree with you, this team needs a quality win over Philadelphia at home, not a playoff birth, to justify it's season.

Re: Draft Picture Update, Bengals Aftermath
It's such a shame we'll have so few draft picks this year. I still think we need o-line talent from the 1st round; however, I'm starting wonder whether Zorn can really get a group of guys behind him i.e. the draft seems pretty incidental at this point. My intuition is there will be a lot of team changes before draft day.

I think he should get at least a second one, but if he's not significantly better next year, we can't afford to keep him around.

I think we need to trade some players for more draft picks

Re: Draft Picture Update, Bengals Aftermath
Trade Portis if you keep Zorn. Can Zorn, hire Cohwer and Portis runs for 2000+ yards next year...

You never know, we took the bait on Jason Taylor |

You can't Portis would cost us $13 million in dead cap space. Either way Zorn is done. Not only has he lost the team but since the loss to Steelers our offense has averaged 11 points a game. As I've said in other threads the benefits Cowher will bring will be numerous but lately I also find myself with a man crush for Russ Grimm who essentially is in essence a Cowher-Gibbs hybrid. Of course my only concern is how much influence would he have in destroying the current front office structure. Cowher is a virtual gurantee to blow it up. Grimm is more likely to slightly shake it up though I wouldn't mind seeing the team hire a guy like Phil Savage should he become available. |
You never know, we took the bait on Jason Taylor
We can't trade with ourselves. There was no market for Jason Taylor, like there's no market for Taylor, Springs, Washington, Daniels, Rabach, Betts, and Moss right now.

Well I would argue that Moss could easily generate some type of market value but the rest of those guys you mentioned have virtually little trade value short of a 7th round pick, if that. |

Hey, someone might. I'd say Randle El should be on the block, maybe Betts, possibly Springs. They'd be taking a chance on him being healthy but he's still solid. |

No matter what happens, El will be cut... |
