Re: R.I.P Coy Bacon
He was a great pass rusher. I believe he had 16 sacks in 1979 if I remember my football cards. I can't remember the last time a Redskin had that many. Probably Dexter in the mid 80s.

Re: R.I.P Coy Bacon
R.I.P. C. Bacon . He was one hell of a football player , I believe we got him and (Cb)L. Parrish in a trade with the bungels . If we had those two on this team ,,,, we would be playoff bound .

Re: R.I.P Coy Bacon
I have a 1971 MNF game I was watching the other nite,Skins vs Rams,George Allen returns to LA to face his old team, anyway,Coy Bacon was playing for the rams in that game.
According to that article bacon had 26 sacks in 76,would be an all time record,I didnt know that He later played for the San Diego Chargers, Cincinnati Bengals and Washington Redskins. He was a Pro Bowler in 1972, 1976 and 1977. According to ESPN.com, the NFL did not officially begin compiling statistics on sacks until 1982. Bacon unofficially recorded 26 sacks during the 1976 season, which would be considered an all-time record, and researchers credit Bacon with a career total of 130. |

Re: R.I.P Coy Bacon
We will miss Coy with all of our hearts.
Knowing how important it was to Coy to be recognized for his talent, we (Carol, Bill, and Jasmine) started an email campaign to have Coy inducted into the Football Hall of Fame in Canton. Just because the NFL didn't keep sack stats doesn't diminsh what Coy did in the NFL for Dallas, LA Rams, San Diego Chargers, Cincinnati Bengals, Washington Redkins, and USFL Federals! Carol, Will, and Jasmine -
My heart goes out to you during this holiday season. So sorry for your loss. Thanks for posting on the Warpath. I'll definitely send a few emails on Coy's behalf. May he RIP. |
Re: R.I.P Coy Bacon
Oh my God. I watched the tail end of his career as a kid. One of the all-time greats for sure.
