He's older than Jansen. But he still would be an upgrade.

Not if he is expensive. If he can be gotten cheap, he'd make a good stopgap upgrade at RT.

I'd take him if

- he's healthy enough to start. no nagging injuries at all
- he's cheap. as in damn cheap and will sign a 1 year deal
- he's willing to play RT

i am not sure he is any of those.

If he is healthy and a dirt cheap price then go for it. Lets just not over pay for another veteran on the downside of his career.

If the price is right I would be all for it. Pace would be way better the Jansen for the short term.

I think its been talked about in the 2009 FA thread as thats what it happens to be for. Did a new thread really need to be started?

Dude, I've tried that already, there's no way to win. People just don't read, and start their own thread and you have the same subject being discussed in three different threads.

To answer the title of this thread "Orlando Pace has been cut what do you think"...

I think that means he's out of work. Seriously, I would pass. The Redskins have enough players on the wrong side of 30. We need a youth movement here in the worst way...draft an OT in the first round (or trade down and get more picks).

No... OT talent is deep in this year's draft, with 6 or maybe 7 taken in the first round. There will be more "cuts" like Pace but w/ few questions/concerns. Levi Jones is a guy to keep our eyes on depending on what Cinci does w/ their 1st round pick.

If we sign him and decide not to draft an OT high, then an emphatic NO. We cannot keep putting off getting young O-line replacements (for Jansen next year etc...).

We have to start addressing the o-line now starting with RT this year, which means we could phase out Jansen next year with replacement already acclimated to the system etc... Getting Pace means we go LB/DE @ 13, pushing back the replacement timetable for our o-line which could literally fall apart in 2010 if left unaddressed.
