Zorn says no on Cutler, talks Haynesworth, Hall and '09 hopes
Pretty solid interview with Mark Maske from the Post.. A couple of key excerpts-
Coach Jim Zorn said today that the Washington Redskins are not pursuing a trade for Denver Broncos quarterback Jay Cutler. Zorn said at this morning's NFC coaches' breakfast at the annual league meeting that the Redskins are not among the teams that have expressed interest in Cutler to the Broncos. Zorn said he has not felt the need to reassure his own quarterback, Jason Campbell, that the Redskins are committed to him. Asked if he has spoken to Campbell about the reports of the Redskins' interest in Cutler, Zorn said: "Not specifically." But Zorn said he's made it clear to Campbell that the club is committed to him as its starter.

You'd love to have an endless supply of money. But we competed very hard for Albert [Haynesworth] and secured him, and then feel that he's really going to help us. From my perspective, it's like starting at ground zero, the foundation, and he's right there in the trench of the defense. I think if you personally would go and look at his video, the things that he does--what he did last year, what he's done in his past--he really does create problems in several areas. I think one of the big signing for us was DeAngelo Hall, and he goes right along with Albert because of his ability to play man coverage. I think getting him allows us to continue to play man coverage when we want to because that's part of our game. And I think he's going to excel this year as well.

Is the Haynesworth signing a signal that the Redskins feel this is their year to win the division? "I thought we could win it last year. I think every coach goes into a season, especially in the beginning, and says, 'I think we can.' You're not injured. You feel great about yourself. You don't have a loss. You don't really know what you've got.... It's a dogfight [in the NFC East] for every inch of ground you're trying to defend and every inch of ground you're trying to get.
Full story link- NFL News Feed: Zorn Says He's Committed to Campbell - The League at washingtonpost.com Can we kill the Cutler talk now? |
Re: Zorn says no on Cutler, talks Haynesworth, Hall and '09 hopes
No, we can't kill the Cutler talk now. A head coach lying about interest in a player -- UNPOSSIBLE. The NFL is full of smoke screens. If our FO got a decent chance at Cutler, I bet they'd make the move in a heart beat. Also, read his comments closely, no where did he say we wouldn't be interested in Cutler. He said we're not 'asking' about him.
I think the chances of us getting Cutler are slim -- but I don't think we're out of the picture by any stretch of the imagination. |

unpossible aint a word, and you aint going to use it.

Re: Zorn says no on Cutler, talks Haynesworth, Hall and '09 hopes
The most damning quote to show Romo Jr's worshippers who cite the old conspiracy theory.
If Vinny Cerrato and Dan Snyder came to you and asked if you were interested in pursuing Cutler, would you say yes? "First of all, Vinny and Dan wouldn't come to me. We would always be together on an issue. I think every coach in the National Football League would go, 'Man, what is this all about? What if Denver approached us?' But that conversation hasn't gone anywhere except 'Monday Morning Quarterback' talk."
|
Re: Zorn says no on Cutler, talks Haynesworth, Hall and '09 hopes
Campbell is our quarterback fellaz. Let crybaby Cutler go to some other team.

Re: Zorn says no on Cutler, talks Haynesworth, Hall and '09 hopes
Cutler is not going to happen, please give it up folks.

Re: Zorn says no on Cutler, talks Haynesworth, Hall and '09 hopes
It does appear at this point Cutler to the Redskins is a pipe dream... Honestly. BUT, in this league, and with our front office, ANYTHING can happen!... You never know down the road, during\after the season, if the situation arises, that The Redskins may have\take the oppertunity to aquire Cutler...?

Re: Zorn says no on Cutler, talks Haynesworth, Hall and '09 hopes
Sure there is also a chance I could spontaneously combust right now. You guys are taking this "anything can happen" too far. Cutler isn't gonna be a skin.

Re: Zorn says no on Cutler, talks Haynesworth, Hall and '09 hopes
I think Cutler being our QB is only slightly more likely than Matty lining up at QB1 with me and Smootsmack stacked in the I behind him for the Redskins. Give it up peeps.

Re: Zorn says no on Cutler, talks Haynesworth, Hall and '09 hopes
As much as we have hated many of Snyder's blunders, he is no Jerry Jones when it comes to being a dysfunctional owner. And if you don't believe, well tell me with a straight face that THIS would happen here in Washington (JJ allowing Wade to "speak"). I believe that Snyder nor VC would throw Zorn under the bus by doing a Cutler trade. If you don't want to believe this, well then you are delusional.

Good to see the Simpsons reference wasn't lost on you.
Originally Posted by Daseal View Post No, we can't kill the Cutler talk now. You can't trust a word these guys said, and if you read my post you'd understand why I made said statement. I think that in the end the Broncos price will be too high (or they won't end up trading him) but don't act like because we haven't contacted the Broncos (something that has been disputed by many people, by the way. Sources in Denver and DC have said we've contacted the Broncos) that doesn't mean we aren't interested. |
Re: Zorn says no on Cutler, talks Haynesworth, Hall and '09 hopes
VC is the GM, and conducting deals. JZ has not shown anywhere near the same deftness with skilled adjudication of elicited facts. He was asked a straightforward question, and gave a straightforward answer.
people just gotta let it go. |
Re: Zorn says no on Cutler, talks Haynesworth, Hall and '09 hopes
Daseal just curious what reliable sources have confirmed any contact between the Redskins and Broncos?? I haven't heard that from any reliable source such as Adam Schefter or John Clayton. JLC also says he has heard absolutely nothing.
