It seems like common sense but if more people start using because they know that they will not serve more jail time will that make good sense? It will be interesting to see how this plays out and I'm sure other states and cities are watching this over the next couple of years. |

In case you've missed the last 30 years of the war on drugs jail time is not a deterrent. Time to try something more sensible and realistic.

Or, another way of looking at it: How many people already on drugs will be more likely to seek treatment once there's no longer a criminal stigma attached to using? How many dealers will be put out of business once the black market dries up? |

I thought you believed in limited government and liberty and all that stuff? Do you just automatically take the opposite position of whatever Matty argues and assume that you're being conservative? |
