Eagles Acquire Jason Peters
Sources: Jason Peters of Buffalo Bills in trade deal with Philadelphia Eagles - ESPN
Multiple outlets reporting this. The cost, reportedly, the 28th overall pick, a 4th rounder, and a conditional 2010 pick. |
Re: Eagles Acquire Jason Peters
LOL Why did this have to start a new thread!!! LOL

Re: Eagles Acquire Jason Peters
High price tag. Surprised the Eagles went for the deal. I thought if they were going to do a trade it would be to get Boldin.

Re: Eagles Acquire Jason Peters
I am not so sold on Peters. I actually sorta dig this deal. I think they gave up more than he is really worth.

Re: Eagles Acquire Jason Peters
Great deal for the Iggles.. Shows what a smart front office does to fill their holes. So they replaced Thomas and Runyan with Andrews and Peters, nice upgrades on both ends of the O-line.
I wonder if they will try to do a 2nd and 3rd or 2nd and 2010 1st for Boldin. They could probably call Cleveland and do a 2nd and 5th for Edwards instead. That would really suck for us if they could upgrade all of their holes like that. |

I guess you could say that the Eagles were smart in acquiring an extra 1st last year by trading back with Carolina, but I think they gave up too much to get Peters and will now have to give him a massive contract. Doesn't look all that brilliant from where I sit. I would be pissed if the Skins made a move like that. Now, on the "how does this impact the Redskins" side, it does increase greatly the chances that Buffalo goes OT at #11 and increases the likelihood that none of the top four guys falls to #13. |

They were in position to do this because of their draft day trade last year to pick up the extra pick. Peters is a pro bowl tackle on the right side of 30. That's a good move for what they gave up. They also signed arguably one of the best tackles on the FA market to play the other side. They got younger, more athletic and stronger at 2 key OL positions. You could make the argument they overpaid but now they are still sitting on a 1st round pick and one less hole to fill. |
Re: Eagles Acquire Jason Peters
Good for the eagles cause he allowed 13 sacks last year, the most among starting LTs

I would bet the farm Monroe and the 2 Smith's are gone by then, so basically Buffalo can take Oher or maybe Britton as a reach. Not sure either of those guys would be immediate starters for us. I mean if Jansen really works his ass off as he's said and then comes in determined there are very few guys who will beat him...keeping him healthy for a full season is a whole nuther question. I believe we need to acquire more OL talent before the season, however it's shaping out there will be limited impact talent available in the draft for us. Still, guys like Levi Jones are likely to be availabe by the end of the month. I'd take him over Peters and it'll cost us way less (nothing in draft picks). ...we're gonna be ok so long as the FO doesn't f the puppy and waste the draft on another QB project :( |
Re: Eagles Acquire Jason Peters
Great move by Philly. I can't believe people are really surprised that a player playing on a UDFA TE contract held out. He's getting nothing pay wise, yet making the pro bowl. He had a down year last year -- but he was also upset with his club. It was a good move by the Eagles, in my opinion. Luckily we don't have a DE that can get the QB anyways, so we neutralize their new awesome LT. Take that, philly!

Still, if the Redskins had given up draft picks for a disgruntled player (Peters) and signed another player who just came out of knee surgery, some people here would be going ape sh!t. I'm fine with the Eagles not getting Boldin though. |

Re: Eagles Acquire Jason Peters
A 1st and a 4th rounder (plus a conditional)- Don't know if the eagles made a good move or not, but I would be upset if the redskins made this same trade (28th overall, eagles 4th rounder) for peters.

They still have another first round pick (and ten picks total) in this draft, so they could still get Boldin if they want. This is a steal for the Eagles. A great LT for a very low 1st rounder 4th, and a doo-doo pick in 2010? Wow. Chances are, if they'd drafted an OT that low, he'd end up being a bust or a career backup. Why do i get the feeling if the skins wanted him, we'd have had to give up our 13th overall plus something else? Guess the Bills were desperate... or just too cheap to pay Peters. |
